Necrotic affinity. As an undead creature, Gaunther takes damage from healing spells and heals from necrotic damage
Magic Devourer. Any spell targeting Gaunther must overcome a spell attack check with DC 35. Whenever an enemy fails this check, the next spell
cast by Gaunther becomes quickened, as though using the Quicken Spell metamagic
Death of Elements. Gaunther can change any elemental damage he deals to necrotic damage. Once per day the avatar can activate Consuming Elements for 5 rounds, turning all incoming elemental damage into necrotic damage.
Ascended Necrotic Element. Gaunther ignores immunity and resistance to necrotic damage
Withering Life. Whenever an enemy is damaged by Gunther's spells they either have their physical or mental stats all reduced by 1.
Unholy Dagger. Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d4 + 8)
Summon Ravener Dragon. Gaunther summons an Ancient Black Dracolich. This ability can only be used once per day and the Dragon disappears after one hour.
Death curse. Gaunther targets one enemy within 30 feet who must succeed on a wisdom saving throw (DC 31) or take 2 levels of exhaustion. On the enemy's next turn they must repeat the saving throw taking 2 more levels of exhaustion. This repeats until the enemy dies or succeeds on the saving throw.
Spellcasting. Vecna casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Intelligence as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 31):
At will: Destruction, Hellfire ray, Exsanguinate, Eyes of the Bodak, Vanish
3/day each: Chain Lightning, Feast of Blood, Bone Spear, flay for purpose, Negative eruption, siphon time, consume undead, (as an action)
2/day each: Absolute Death, Hold monster,
1/day each: Doom to servitude, Death clutch
Sorcerous reflex. Gaunther may use a bonus action instead of an action to cast any spell on the first round following an initiative roll.
Corrupt Counterspell. Gaunther utters a dread word to interrupt a creature he can see that is casting a spell. If the spell is 4th level or lower, it fails and has no effect. If the spell is 5th level or higher, Vecna makes an Intelligence check (DC 10 plus the spell’s level). On a successful check, the spell fails and has no effect. Whatever the spell’s level, the caster takes 10 (3d6) psychic damage if the spell fails.
Undying. When slain for the first time in a combat encounter the avatar will reform with full hit points on its next turn as if having just entered combat.
