Traits

Regeneration. At the start of each of his turns, Vortegar regains 10 hit points. If Vortegar takes necrotic damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of its next turn. This ability cannot return Vortegar from 0 hitpoints.

Adamant Armour. Critical hits against Vortegar do not deal double damage.

Spellcaster: Vortegar knows the following spells:

  • Destructive Wave
  • Circle of Power
  • Raise Dead
  • Commune
  • Cure Wounds
  • Greater Restoration
Actions

Multiattack: Vortegar makes two attacks with its Greatsword, and one kick attack.

Revenant strikes: Melee Weapon Attack: , +12 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d10) slashing damage, and the same again of fire damage, and radiant damage. The blade is considered silvered. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be shunted to the Ethereal Plane, or if it is already on the Ethereal Plane, it is shunted back to the Material Plane. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this strike automatically fails its saving throw and so is shunted to, or from, the Ethereal plane.

Kick. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage, and pushed 10 feet away.

Spellcasting: As an action, Vortegar may cast a spell at 5th level, without requiring material components. Once a spell has been cast, he cannot cast the same spell again until he completes a long rest.

Bonus Actions

Ethereal Jaunt. As a bonus action, Vortegar can shift from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane, or vice versa. While on the Ethereal Plane, it can see and hear the Material Plane, but everything there appears ghostly and insubstantial. Any creatures Vortegar is grappling, or objects it is holding, will also travel to the ethereal plane when it takes this bonus action.

Reactions

Blinding gaze. When hit with a weapon or spell attack by a creature it can see, Vortegar can unleash a blinding gaze at the source of that attack. The target of the gaze must succeed a Charisma saving throw or be blinded for 1 minute, it can attempt this save again at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Description

Vortegar is a large celestial centaur, standing tall and noble. His form blends the sturdy build of a golden horse with a powerful dark-skinned upper body adorned in gleaming celestial armor. His eyes are golden, and his hair a pure white. Expansive black wings extend from his back, shimmering with holy light. In his hands, he wields a glittering greatsword made of celestial silver, The Revenant Spire, which appears to smoke faintly, but with radiant fire, not soot and dust.

His mane and tail trail behind him, shimmering with ethereal energies that leave a trail of stardust in the air. His eyes, filled with wisdom, show that he is a protector and guardian of celestial realms.
