Traits

Immortal.  Berem is immune to all fire, acid, poison, magic, disease, and petrification. He automatically regenerates any form of damage at a rate of 1 hit point per round.

Blind Fighting. Berem has blindsight with a range of 10 ft. Within that range, he can effectively see anything that isn’t behind total cover, even if he`s blinded or in darkness. Moreover, he can see an invisible creature within that range, unless the creature successfully hides from him.
Primeval Awareness. As an action, Berem can expend one ranger spell slot (1 minute per level of spell slot) to sense whether any aberrations, celestials, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, or undead are present within 1 mile of him (or within up to 6 miles in grasslands). This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number.

Spellcasting. Berem is a 5-level ranger. His spellcasting ability is [ability score] (spell save DC 11, +3 to hit with spell attacks). He has the following ranger spells prepared:
1st level (4 slots): Absorb Elements, Cure Wounds, Detect poison and disease, protection from evil and good

2nd level (2 slots): misty step, protection from poison

Actions

Multiattack. Berem can attack twice, instead of once, whenever he takes the Attack action on his turn.

Unarmed Strike. Melee Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 2 bludgeoning damage.

Bonus Actions

Spell: misty step. Briefly surrounded by silvery mist, Berem can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that he can see.

Reactions

Opportunity Attack. Berem can make an opportunity attack when a hostile creature that he can see moves out of his reach. To make the opportunity attack, he uses his reaction to make one melee attack against the provoking creature. The attack occurs right before the creature leaves his reach.

Spell: Absorb Elements. The spell captures some of the incoming energy, lessening its effect on Berem and storing it for his next melee attack. He has resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of his next turn. Also, the first time he hits with a melee attack on his next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type, and the spell ends.

Description

(Major NPC from the Dragonlance Saga)

When first encountered in Thorbardin by the Infellows Berem had a long, white beard and long, dirty hair. But beneath the whiskers was concealed the face of a middle-aged man. Embedded in Berem's chest, hidden by his beard, is a dull gray stone the size of a fist. This mysterious stone gives him his great recuperative powers and makes him immortal. Berem is nearly 400 years old but has been imprisoned away from the world for so long that he has forgotten how to speak. Only slowly has his speech returned. Berem serves a larger purpose in the great scheme of things, but what that may be remains a mystery.

When encountered later in DL12 he has shaved his scraggly beard and now appears younger, though weathered. There is a 1 in 10 chance that any PC that encountered him earlier in DL4, may notice something familiar about the man. He speaks little and attempts to avoid others. Berem is a hunted man and only seeks to remain free and unnoticed. He is both fearful of and fascinated by the Dragon Highlords. He is aware of his inability to die, but will not reveal this to others. He faces his trials with the sullenness of a martyr. The threat of capture by a Dragon Highlord or other members of the dragon armies will send him into a frenzy.
Embedded in Berem's chest is a dull gray fist-sized gem. This mysterious gem cannot be removed and makes him immortal. When the gem is healing him, it glows green. The Dark Queen wants this gem and her people are searching for the man who has it.
