Traits

Cavities. The Yggdrasti has 1d4 + 2 cavities in its trunk, each large enough to hold one Medium creature, two Small creatures, or eight Tiny creatures. Creatures inside a cavity have three-quarters cover against attacks and effects originating from outside the cavity. The cavities are not connected to one another.

False Appearance. If the Yggdrasti is motionless and rooted in the ground at the start of combat, it appears as a dead tree and gains advantage on its initiative roll. If a creature hasn’t observed the rooted Yggdrasti move, it must succeed on a DC 18 Intelligence (Investigation) check to recognize it as animate.

Hive Mind. The Blighted Yggdrasti shares a hive mentality with other Blighted creatures, allowing them to act in unison.

Blighted Scourge. Natural weapon attacks by the Blighted Yggdrasti can infect creatures with the Blighted Scourge (DC 14 Wisdom save).

Lightning Conduit. If subjected to lightning damage, the Yggdrasti takes no damage; instead, the damage is evenly divided among all creatures it is grappling. Additionally, the Yggdrasti regains one use of Blight Discharge.

Unusual Nature. The Yggdrasti doesn’t require air or sleep.

Actions

Multiattack. The Yggdrasti makes two Root attacks and may use Blight Discharge if available.

Root. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 15). The Yggdrasti has four roots, each of which can grapple one target.

Blight Discharge (3/Day). The Yggdrasti targets one creature within 120 feet with a blighted projectile. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution or Wisdom saving throw, taking 30 (8d8) blight damage and advancing one stage in the Blighted Scourge on a failed save, or half damage on a success.

Legendary Actions

The Blighted Young Yggdrasti can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and it can only be used at the end of another creature’s turn. The Yggdrasti regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Root Strike. The Yggdrasti makes one Root attack.
  • Corrupted Ground (Costs 2 Actions). The Yggdrasti corrupts a 10-foot radius of ground within 30 feet, turning it into difficult terrain for 1 minute. Creatures that enter the area for the first time on a turn take 5 (1d10) necrotic damage.
  • Blighted Grasp (Costs 3 Actions). The Yggdrasti reaches out with a corrupted root, targeting a creature within 20 feet. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be restrained until the end of its next turn. If the target is already restrained, it takes 10 (3d6) blighted damage.

Description

A nightmarish fusion of ancient plant life and the corrupting force of the Blight, the Blighted Young Yggdrasti is a twisted mockery of a once-majestic world tree. Its bark, once vibrant and teeming with life, is now cracked and pulsates with dark veins of corrupted energy. Sickly, glowing blighted tendrils stretch from its massive form, reaching toward anything that dares to come near.
