Traits

Angelic Resilience: The Ash Angel has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Fury of the Mountain: Once per day, the Ash Angel can invoke the power of Red Mountain, causing the ground within a 30-foot radius to erupt in flames and ash. Each creature in the area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 8d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute.

Temporal Strike: If the Ash Angel is unobserved by any creature, it can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see and make a melee attack as part of that action. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Gaze of Despair: If a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of the Ash Angel and can see its eyes, it must make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if it is still within line of sight of the Ash Angel, ending the effect on a success.

Actions

Extinguish Light: As an action, the Ash Angel can extinguish all non-magical light sources within a 60-foot radius. Additionally, any magical light sources in this area must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be suppressed for 1 minute. This ability can be used once per short rest.

Life Drain Touch: Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d8 + 5) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or its Constitution and Charisma scores are reduced by 1d4. If either score is reduced to 0, the target dies, and its body crumbles into ash. The target's ability scores return to normal after a long rest.

Bonus Actions

Ashen Form: When the Ash Angel is in an area covered in ash, it can use its bonus action to merge with the ash, becoming invisible until it attacks or moves.

Compelling Blink: As a bonus action, the Ash Angel can force all creatures within 60 feet that can see it to make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creatures must involuntarily blink their eyes. The Ash Angel can immediately use its Temporal Strike ability on any creatures that fail this saving throw.

Reactions

Vanish in Ash: When the Ash Angel takes damage, it can use its reaction to disperse into a cloud of ash and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. It then re-materializes and gains resistance to all damage until the start of its next turn.

Description

The Ash Angel is a terrifying remnant of the Red Mountain's fury, combining the relentless predation of the Weeping Angels with the fiery vengeance of the Ashspawn. These creatures strike fear into the hearts of those who venture near Solstheim’s ash-covered wastelands. The Ash Angel’s ability to manipulate ash and fire, cause involuntary blinking, extinguish light, and its terrifying life-draining touch make it a deadly adversary.
