Danger Sense. The Urstrylox has advantage on Dexterity saving throws against effects that it can hear, see or smell such as traps and spells. To gain this benefit, it can’t be blinded, deafened, or incapacitated.
Flyby. The Urstrylox doesn't provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of an enemy's reach.
Keen Senses. The Urstrylox has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing, sight and smell.
Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the Urstrylox fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The Urstrylox has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Regeneration. The Urstrylox regains 20 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. If the Urstrylox takes necrotic damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of the Urstrylox’s next turn.
Silent Flyer. The Urstrylox has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks that rely on moving silently while flying.
Relentless. The Urstrylox has resistance to being restrained, grappled or knocked prone unless unconscious or incapacitated.
Earth Armor (Recharge 4-6). The Urstrylox creates an armor around itself formed of the earth and stone around it. The Urstrylox has resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage and it's AC becomes 18. This effect ends after the Urstrylox receives damage from an attack.
Ember (Recharge 4-6). The Urstrylox whips it's tail and a thin sheet of flames shoots forth. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire ignites any flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
Gale (Recharge 4-6). The Urstrylox beats it's wings to create a line of strong wind 60 feet long and 30 feet wide that blasts from it in any direction. Each creature in the line must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 15 feet away from it in a direction following the line.
The gale disperses gas or vapor, and it extinguishes candles, torches, and similar unprotected flames in the area. It causes protected flames, such as those of lanterns, to dance wildly and has a 50 percent chance to extinguish them.
Wing Attack (Recharge 4-6). The Urstrylox beats its wings. Each creature within 10 feet of the Urstrylox must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 12 (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn. The Urstrylox can then fly up to half its flying speed.
Multiattack. The Urstrylox makes three melee attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) piercing damage. If the Urstrylox moved at least 20 feet straight toward the target immediately before the hit and the target is a Large or smaller creature, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be restrained.
Crushing Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) slashing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Frightening Screech (Recharge 4–6). The Urstrylox screeches. Each creature within 30 feet of it that can hear it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened of it for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Primal Split (Recharge 4–6). The Urstrylox splits into 3 primal spirits. Cave bear (earth), fox (fire) and giant owl (air). Each form has the same stats as its normal counterpart, except it keeps it's elemental abilities and it performs actions independently. The Urstrylox can revert to it's normal form earlier by using a bonus action on it's turn. It automatically reverts if all 3 primal spirits fall unconscious, drop to 0 hit points, or die.
Vulpine Nimbleness. The Urstrylox takes the Dash or Disengage action.
Stone’s Endurance (Recharge 4-6). When the Urstrylox takes damage, it reduces the damage taken by 12 (1d12 + 5).
The Urstrylox can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Urstrylox regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Detect. The Urstrylox makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.
Earth Armor (Costs 2 Actions). The Urstrylox uses Earth Armor.

Description
The Urstrylox is a magically imbued hybrid monstrosity that is a combination of the physical and spiritual essences of a bear, a fox and an owl. The monster's form is held together by the expertly applied use of arcana filled aether crystals. These crystals are each the colour of their associated elements. Green for earth, red for fire and white for air. These crystals are embedded into the creatures form at the epicentre of each aspect. Air crystal being embedded into the forehead, the fire crystal in the spine, and the earth crystal in the solar plexus.
The Urstrylox is a creature that embodies balance, and as such has become a symbol that inspires many.
The Urstrylox is believed to be one of a kind, without any ancestors or offspring, though many know not why.
Its huge stature makes it a formidable foe to any who dare cross it, especially in its lair. It's razor sharp claws are able to pierce through plate armour, it's reflexes making it hard to hit, and its keen senses make it able to spot even the smallest changes in its environment. Some say that it is wild and untameable, others swear it's sentient and capable of speech. Though none have witnessed the creature alive and well in centuries.
Lair and Lair Actions
The Urstrylox is a creature with a connection to 3 of the 4 elements as such it favours areas where those three elements are available. Sky islands are one of its favourite places to establish a lair, and if one happened to feature geo-thermal activity it would be considered ideal.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 10 (losing initiative ties), the Urstrylox takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Urstrylox can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Call for re-enforcements. The Urstrylox shrieks out at the top of it's lungs and calls for help. This summons 1d6+4 allied creatures to assist it. Those creatures join initiative in the next round.
- Aether recharge. The Urstrylox calls upon the Aether in the environment around it to replenish some of it's energies. Doing so instantly recharges one of it's abilities.
- Unstable Earth. The Urstrylox creates a 30ft radius area of unstable ground around it, making it difficult terrain.
- Geyser eruption. The Urstrylox creates a temporary geyser within 30ft of it that erupts from the ground for 1 round. any creature within 10ft of the geyser must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
- High winds. A strong air current moves through the Urstrylox’s lair. Each air-born creature within 60 feet of the kraken must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 60 feet away from the Urstrylox. On a success, the creature is pushed 10 feet away from the Urstrylox.
Regional Effects
The region containing a Urstrylox’s lair is often bountiful, which creates one or more of the following effects:
- All crops and plant life grow at twice their normal rate and with higher yields.
- All beasts are peaceful and avoid conflict where possible.
- All weather within the region is temperate and calm. Though, the Urstrylox can alter the weather at will within the region. The effect is identical to the control weather spell, however limited to the region of it's lair.
- Beasts gather within the region seemingly attracted by the abundant nature.
If the Urstrylox dies, these effects fade immediately.
