No keen hearing or echolocation? I get keeping the low CR monsters simple but this is just silly
I fully agree
It does. It uses DEX to attack now, rather than STR.
Still, WHY NERF THE BAT? Where is Echolocation and Keen Hearing? Wait, removing Echolocation is a buff...
After looking for a bat in my house, they should have given it stealth proficiency.
Quick note RE: removing keen hearing and echolocation -
The Bat's senses are now represented by 60ft of Blindsight, which you can take advantage of when you Bonus Action warg into its senses. Could be a lot of fun!
Best creature for the "Find Familiar"-Spell in my opinion. As a Bonus Action you get 60ft. Blindsight!
Ignoring dim light, darkness (magical and non-magical) and you can see/detect invisible creatures and objects.
Further more the Blinded condition doesn't affect Blindsight and therefore you also can detect anything in lightly and heavyly obscured areas.
Far better than Darkvision or the Warlocks "Devils Sight" Invocation. Only Truesight is better than Blindsight.
Also Echolocation was a debuff (some creatures could hear your familiar -like dragons- and when your familiar got deafened or was in a area with silence it couldn't use blindsight at all).
Keen Hearing only worked with... well... hearing and then only gave advantage on WIS/Perception rolls that involved sound. So this was very very niche.
Overall it's a buff for the 2024 bat instead of a debuff like some ppl wrote here.
And not to forget... you just can carry your familiar bat on your shoulder or head/helmet and have that juicy 60ft. blindsight by only using your bonus action.
the bat is to wec giv it a scrach pleas
