Voice Mimicry. An ahuizotl has a supernatural ability to perfectly imitate the voice of a creature it has heard speak at least once. A creature must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom (Insight) check to detect the mimicry, The DC is lowered to 15 if the creature is familiar with the target of the mimicry.
Blinding Strike. If the ahuizotl hits a creature with a critical hit from either of its natural attacks, that creature must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until it finishes a short or long rest.
Multiattack. The ahuizotl makes three attacks: two with its bite, and one with its tail hand.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6+5) piercing damage.
Tail Hand. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 8 (1d6+5) piercing damage and the target is grappled (escape DC 16).
Description
A cruel creature that lurks in rivers and swamps, the ahuizotl lurks in the shallows of a lake, gaining advantage on Stealth checks while doing so. When a victim draws near, it springs out and grabs on with its tail hand, attempting to drag its prey underwater to drown it. Once an ahuizotl has a creature grappled with its tail hand, it immediately moves toward water, bringing the creature with it. These creatures are solitary, resembling a cross between a monkey and a dog in form. An ahuizotl measures about six feet long not including tail, and weighs around 400 pounds.
