Traits

Ooze. The Sourdough Ooze takes up its entire space. Other creatures can enter the space, but a creature that does so is subjected to the Ooze's Engulf and has disadvantage on the saving throw.

Creatures inside the Ooze cannot be seen and have total cover.

A creature within 5 feet of the cube can take an action to pull a creature or object out of the cube. Doing so requires a successful DC 12 Strength check, and the creature making the attempt takes 10 (3d6) acid damage.

The cube can hold only 5 Large creatures or up to 10  Medium or smaller creatures inside it at a time. After 5 rounds, it will release the victims, typically with severely thinned or ravaged clothing, and likely, suffocated to death by the lack of oxygen.

Actions

Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (3d6) acid damage.

Engulf. The cube moves up to its speed. While doing so, it can enter Large or smaller creatures' spaces. Whenever the cube enters a creature's space, the creature must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw.

On a successful save, the creature can choose to be pushed 5 feet back or to the side of the cube. A creature that chooses not to be pushed suffers the consequences of a failed saving throw.

On a failed save, the cube enters the creature's space, and the creature takes 10 (3d6) acid damage and is engulfed. The engulfed creature can't breathe, is restrained, and takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the cube's turns. When the cube moves, the engulfed creature moves with it.

An engulfed creature can try to escape by taking an action to make a DC 12 Strength check. On a success, the creature escapes and enters a space of its choice within 5 feet of the cube.

Carbon Dioxide Release:

The Ooze rolls a DC 15 Fortitude save, with it's DC becoming lower each turn by 1, to a minimum of 12, As long as it is Digesting material to fuel the runaway magical reaction. If the Ooze fails this save, a bubble starts to form on the surface of the Ooze, which is Easily popped, instantly causing the Carbon Dioxide Release Action to occur instantly at that location, without a Fortitude save.

The Co2 is hardly as dangerous in open air environments, but in dense city streets, this effect can cause toxic levels of C02 to pool up in areas, affecting all who breath it in or spend too long under it's effects, to make a DC 12 Constitution Save, or become affected by the gas inhalation. This causes disorientation, and often leaves a victim temporarily cognitively impaired, taking a -2 to their Intelligence per round, until they reach fresh air, or the c02 dissipates.

the area in which the C02 begins to build is randomly determined, and causes an area of effect  of 15 feet for 2d4 rounds. This effect can be countered and lasts a shorter duration under any circumstances that would involve the required displacement of the gas via wind, etc..

The gas is heavier than air, and it will pool up in deeper locations when possible. in this case the gas can last indefinitely if left undisturbed.

Description

The Amorphous Sourdough Ooze is a creature born out of a runaway magical reaction. It was originally created by a Baker who hired a novice spellcaster to create a formulation to make the dough rise faster and bigger, to ease the local food crises regarding cultured yeast imports.. Unfortunately, the spellcaster's attempt created this monstrous ooze instead.

The dough seems to take on a life of its own in the search for more sugars and starches to feed the magical reaction. This dangerous characteristic tends to lead the ooze mindlessly down freshly hung clothing on lines hanging between alleys, especially in tight residential districts, where the blob tends to take over the size of the entire funnel-like alleyways, consuming much in it's path, including living creatures, and entire sweet shoppes and bakeries.. If left unchecked, the reaction tends to find its way towards the local farms and fields for sugarcane and wheat, etc. Where, the reaction tends to cause the most most long term damage, via food shortages. Ironically worsening the very problem it was created to solve.

This creature is attracted to anyone wearing clothing or carrying High sugar contents.

This monster can multiply if a chunk is cut off, but the smaller the piece, the less dangerous it is, as the reaction time is drastically shortened, and they likely cannot engulf and drown a human.
