Legendary Resistance (3/Day)

If the Astral Dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Cosmic Flight

The Astral Dragon’s wings allow it to fly through the Astral Plane and the Material Plane simultaneously. It can enter and exit the Astral Plane as a bonus action.

Magic Resistance

The Astral Dragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Stellar Empowerment

While under an open sky at night, the Astral Dragon can regain 50 hit points at the start of each of its turns.

Innate Spellcasting

The Astral Dragon’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 25, +17 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

  • At will: Plane Shift, Banishment, Teleport, Dimension Door
  • 3/day: Meteor Swarm, Time Stop, Prismatic Wall
  • 1/day: Wish
Actions

Multiattack

The Astral Dragon makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite

Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target.
Hit: 36 (5d10 + 10) piercing damage plus 18 (4d8) radiant damage.

Claw

Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.
Hit: 28 (4d8 + 10) slashing damage.

Tail

Melee Weapon Attack: +18 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target.
Hit: 34 (4d10 + 10) bludgeoning damage.

Breath Weapon (Recharge 5-6): Cosmic Breath

The Astral Dragon exhales a beam of stardust and magic in a 120-foot line that is 15 feet wide. Each creature in that area must make a DC 26 Dexterity saving throw, taking 91 (26d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that fails its save is also blinded for 1 minute (save ends at the end of each of its turns).

Astral Roar (1/Day)

The Astral Dragon emits a deafening roar that reverberates through the planes. Every creature of the dragon's choice within 240 feet must make a DC 26 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, creatures take 52 (8d12) thunder damage, are stunned for 1 minute, and are sent to a random location on the Astral Plane. On a successful save, creatures take half damage and aren't stunned.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Actions

The Astral Dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Astral Dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Tail Attack. The Astral Dragon makes one tail attack.
  • Astral Shift (Costs 2 Actions). The Astral Dragon shifts into the Astral Plane and reappears in an unoccupied space within 60 feet.
  • Stellar Flare (Costs 3 Actions). The Astral Dragon releases a blast of radiant energy. Each creature within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 26 Constitution saving throw or take 36 (8d8) radiant damage and be blinded until the end of their next turn.

Description

Astral Dragons are among the most ancient and majestic beings to ever roam the planes, born from the cosmic energies of the stars. Their power has drawn the envy and fear of the gods for millennia, leading to a war that nearly extinguished their species. Only a few dozen remain, each bearing the weight of a celestial heritage and the bitterness of a long-fought battle against the divine. These dragons can traverse the Astral Plane at will, their very being suffused with the energy of distant stars and the raw fabric of magic.
