Spellcasting. The Vaishya have an innate spellcasting ability, and Charisma is their ability score. Attack spells have a +6 to hit. The Save DC is 16. They can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
- Cantrips: minor illusion, fire bolt, and ray of frost
- 4 slots: color spray, comprehend languages, shield, sleep
- 3 slots: blindness/deafness, gust of wind, and shatter
- 2 slots: lightning bolt, sleet storm
Prophecy. Those of the Vaishya have the ability to see into the future, though this can be mere moments, or years into the future. They are unable to control this ability, and more times than not their foresight warns of doom and despair.
Multiattack. Those of the Vaishya make two attacks: one with their claws and one with a short spear. (The Vaishya will never throw their spear, for they believe it will incur the wrath of their matron)
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (3d4 + 1) slashing damage.
Spear. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 1) piercing damage.
Luring Song. The Vaishya can sing a most wonderful magical melody. When they sing in this manner, every humanoid and giant within 300 feet of the harpy that can hear the song must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed until the song ends. The Vaishya who is singing must take a bonus action on its subsequent turns to continue singing. It can stop singing at any time. The song ends if the Vaishya is incapacitated.
While charmed by the Vaishya, a target is incapacitated and ignores the songs of other Vaishya and harpies. If the charmed target is more than 5 feet away from the Vaishya, the target must move on its turn toward the singer by the most direct route, trying to get within 5 feet. It doesn't avoid opportunity attacks, but before moving into damaging terrain, such as lava or a pit, and whenever it takes damage from a source other than the Vaishya, the target can repeat the saving throw. A charmed target can only repeat the saving throw if someone else attempts to break the spell cast by the song. Using a bonus action to speak to the one charmed, they need to roll a persuasion check (DC 15).
A target that successfully saves or is saved by a successful persuasion is immune to this vaishya's song for the next 24 hours.
Description
Collectively, they call themselves the Harpyiai. Others, however call them harpies and sirens. They combine the body, legs, and wings of a vulture with the torso, arms, and head of a human female. Its sweet song has lured countless adventurers to their deaths.
Their society is divided into three castes, which vary in physical characteristics as well as overall intelligence. The Vaishya are more intelligent than the harpy who are on a lower caste. The vaishya are able to bear live children instead of laying eggs. The lowest caste, the harpy, are less intelligent, and lay eggs in communal nests where the community raises all the young.
