Succubus Form. When the incubus finishes a Long Rest, it can shape-shift into a Succubus, using that stat block instead of this one. Any equipment it’s wearing or carrying isn’t transformed.
Multiattack. The incubus makes two Restless Touch attacks.
Restless Touch. Melee Attack Roll: +7, reach 5 ft. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 5) Psychic damage, and the target is cursed for 24 hours or until the incubus dies. Until the curse ends, the target gains no benefit from finishing Short Rests.
Spellcasting. The incubus casts one of the following spells, requiring no Material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 15):
At Will: Disguise Self, Etherealness
1/Day Each: Dream, Hypnotic Pattern
Nightmare (Recharge 6). Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 15, one creature the incubus can see within 60 feet. Failure: If the target has 20 Hit Points or fewer, it has the Unconscious condition for 1 hour, until it takes damage, or until a creature within 5 feet of it takes an action to wake it. Otherwise, the target takes 18 (4d8) Psychic damage.
I can’t wait to run this and the Succubus in my next game.
This is full of interesting design decisions.
The way I read this, they can't hide their wings unless in Succubus form.
And once in succubus form if they take on wings, as an aarakocra for example, their wings don't work.
Also, both fiends have lost telepathy across distance to charmed creatures, which is sad.
You should probably read the Dominate Person spell.
Dominate person only works while on the same plane of existence. And only for Succubus.
The old rules "The two don't even need to be on the same plane of existence."
That's different, yeah?
Different sure, but there a big difference between "different" and "lost"
CR 3 at most definitely not CR 4
Are you calculating the damage from Nightmare into that? Or the resistances?
Or any of the spells?
why are you actually everywhere
That's not how CR is calculated per WoTC.
If I'm reading Nightmare correctly it takes the psychic damage if it has more than 20 HP, right?
That's my read too.
Yeah, seems so.
I was hoping they could be watching from the Ethereal Plane using Etherealness, then cast Dream... but they have to be back on the material plane for that to work.
It's still a fun monster I think.
