Traits

Undead Nature: Black Aggie doesn’t require food, water, or air. It cannot be healed by normal means but can only be healed through necrotic magic or specific magical items or rituals.

Hover: Black Aggie floats a few feet above the ground and cannot be knocked prone or restrained by normal means.

Aura of Despair: Any creature that starts its turn within 15 feet of Black Aggie must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of its next turn. A creature that succeeds on this saving throw is immune to Black Aggie’s Aura of Despair for the next 24 hours.

Legendary Resistance (2/Day): If Black Aggie fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Shape of Shadows: Black Aggie can merge with surrounding shadows, becoming intangible. As a bonus action, it can hide in dim light or darkness, even when being observed. It has advantage on Stealth checks in such conditions.

Actions

Multiattack: Black Aggie makes two attacks with her Necrotic Grasp or Shadow Blast.

Necrotic Grasp: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (3d8 + 5) necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or have its maximum hit points reduced by the necrotic damage dealt. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest.

Shadow Blast: Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (3d6 + 4) psychic damage. If the target is within 30 feet of Black Aggie, the target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of its next turn.

Dark Embrace (Recharge 5–6): Black Aggie summons tendrils of shadow that lash out in all directions. Each creature within 20 feet of Black Aggie must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 27 (6d8) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. A creature that fails its saving throw also becomes restrained by shadowy tendrils for 1 minute. A restrained creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Bonus Actions

Bonus Actions

Ghostly Form: Black Aggie can use its bonus action to become incorporeal for 1 round. During this time, it can pass through creatures and objects, but it can't attack or cast spells. If it ends its turn inside a creature or object, it takes 5 (1d10) force damage.

Reactions

Shadowslash (Recharge 4-6): When a creature within 10 feet of Black Aggie hits it with a melee attack, Black Aggie can use its reaction to lash out with shadowy claws. The attacker must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 15 (3d6) necrotic damage and be pushed 10 feet away. If the attacker fails the saving throw, it is also stunned until the end of its next turn.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Actions

Black Aggie can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Black Aggie regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Move: Black Aggie moves up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

Shadow Step: Black Aggie teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see within dim light or darkness.

Summon Shadows (Costs 2 Actions): Black Aggie summons 1d4 shadows in an unoccupied space within 30 feet of it. The shadows act immediately on the initiative count following Black Aggie.

Description

Appearance

Black Aggie is a towering, ghostly figure with an ethereal and dark form. Its body is cloaked in a flowing, tattered black robe that seems to shimmer with a faint, otherworldly glow. Its face is obscured by shadows, though its glowing eyes emit an eerie crimson light. The hands are skeletal with elongated fingers, tipped with claws that flicker between solid and shadowy forms. A faint mist swirls around its feet, leaving behind a trace of coldness wherever it goes.

Behavior and Lore

Black Aggie is a spirit of vengeance, a being formed from the twisted remnants of a graveyard statue animated by dark forces. It was once a statue of a grieving widow, but now it is an entity fueled by sorrow, anger, and the promise of eternal night. The figure is said to wander graveyards, its presence often preceded by a chill wind and the sense of unease. It is known to curse those who desecrate sacred grounds, and it strikes fear into the hearts of those who dare trespass on its domain.

When it attacks, it uses a combination of terrifying shadows and necrotic magic to drain the life force of its enemies. The fear it instills in others is not just from its appearance, but from its power to summon the darkness itself, enveloping those who come too close.
