Magic Resistance. The Unschkind has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Negative Healing. When healed by magical means the Unschkind instead takes damage equal to the healing that would have been dealt.
Baleful Demise. When reduced to 0 hit points, the Unschkind detonates. All creatures within 5 feet must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 25 (8d6+4) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
Semi-incorporeal. An Unschkind can travel through solid objects, terrain, or water, in pursuit of its target. Its speed is reduced to 5ft when it does so.
Chilling Glare. The Unschkind selects a target within 60 feet of it which it can see, forcing them to make a Wisdom saving throw. On a success, their movement speed is reduced by half for 1 minute. On a failure, their speed is reduced, and they become affected by the frightened condition for the duration.
Mindless Grasp Melee Attack. Reach 5ft. +8 to hit. 14 (4d4 + 6) necrotic damage.
Undead Mark. The Unschkind may psychically mark any creature it can see, within 120 feet of it for death. Once marked, the Unschkind will relentlessly seek and attempt to kill that one creature, regardless of anything else around it. It will always know the direction and distance to its marked target.
How the Unschkind chooses a target is largely random if there are multiple available targets, but it will always target a humanoid before it targets other living creatures. It will not seek to mark another creature until its current mark has died, or until it is greater than 100 miles away.
Description
An Unschkind is a small undead, usually the spectral animation of a soul who suffered a particularly traumatic or disturbing death. They have shadowy forms, with bright glowing eyes. They move slowly but inexorably towards the living, seeking to join them in misery.
Unschkind have no lair but tend to dwell in darker areas, caves, swamps, cellars and sewers, and the like. They have no communication and do not engage with other undead, but do tend to appear in groups of 4 or 5 or more, perhaps due to the events surrounding the trauma of their deaths.
They are immune to almost all damage; only radiant damage, and attempting to magically heal them will harm them. However, they are also slow, and singlemindedly drawn to destruction of living creatures.
