False Appearance. While the animated coal remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an inanimate piece of coal.
Constructed Nature. The coal doesn't require air, food, drink, or sleep.
Kindle. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d4) fire damage, and the target catches fire if it is flammable. Until a creature takes an action to douse the fire, the target takes 2 (1d4) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.

Sometimes hags animate the coals they use to heat their cauldron as a defense mechanism. Animated coals may seem harmless but they can be quite hot.
