Traits

Antimagic Susceptibility. The Bite Coin is incapacitated while in the area of an antimagic field. If targeted by dispel magic, the Bite Coin must succeed on a constitution saving throw against the caster's spell Dc or fall unconscious for 1 minute.

False Appearance. While the Bite Coin remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal coin, taking on the appearance of the coin which was consumed to create it. However, they always look new, making them easier to spot/find.

Swarm. The swarm can occupy another creature's space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny Bite Coin. The swarm can't regain hit points or gain temporary hit points.

Death. Whenever a Bite Coin is killed, it reverts to a normal coin of equal value. A gold Bite Coin becomes 1 GP, a silver Bite Coin becomes 1 SP, ect. The amount of coins that make up a Bite Coin Swarm is usually decided by dividing its max HP total by 3. 1 = 1 GP, and 0.1 = 1 SP, ect. Smaller numbers are ignored.

Actions

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 0 ft, one target in the swarm's space. Hit: 15 (4d6 + 1) piercing damage, or 8 (2d6 + 1) piercing damage if the swarm has half of its hit points or fewer.

Description

The bite coin is a cruel creation, what looks at first like a spot of good fortune for the finder becomes the opposite, for the bit coin reproduces by consuming other coins - creating new bite coins to match those consumed. An individual Bite Coin is rarely a problem if spotted early, but left alone then enough coins will act together, defending themselves as they roll about searching for more money to transform.

As hard as it is for a traveler to lose their wealth, stories exist of far greater disasters caused by these shiny little pests. Tales of dragons gone angered by the loss of their horde, of entire countries economies crashing as their treasury is infected, or of ransoms vanishing before they can be delivered.
