Traits

Hive Mind. The Blighted Megalodon shares a telepathic connection with other Blighted creatures. If one Blighted creature is aware of a hostile creature, all in the hive mind are also aware.

Blighted Scourge. Natural weapon attacks by the Blighted Megalodon carry the Blighted Scourge infection. A creature hit by the megalodon’s attacks must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw or contract the Blighted Scourge.

Death Burst. When the Blighted Megalodon drops to 0 hit points, it releases a destructive burst of blighted energy. Each creature within 30 feet must make a DC 21 Constitution saving throw, taking 66 (12d10) blighted energy damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Creatures that fail the saving throw are also infected with the Blighted Scourge.

Aura of Blighted Depths. The Blighted Megalodon radiates a 20-foot aura of corruptive energy. Creatures that start their turn within this area must make a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or take 13 (3d8) blighted energy damage and have their movement halved until the start of their next turn. Blighted creatures are immune to this effect.

Resilient Might. The megalodon has advantage on saving throws against being paralyzed or restrained.

Each creature in that area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 72 (13d10) blighted energy damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Creatures that fail the saving throw are also pushed back 20 feet and stunned until the end of their next turn.

The Blighted Megalodon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The Blighted Megalodon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Tail Swipe. The megalodon makes one Tail attack.
  • Shark Frenzy (Costs 2 Actions). The megalodon thrashes wildly, forcing each creature within 10 feet to succeed on a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw or take 13 (3d8) blighted energy damage and be knocked prone.
  • Blighted Roar (Costs 3 Actions). The megalodon lets out a terrifying roar that shakes the waters around it, increasing the range of its Aura of Blighted Depths to 40 feet until the start of its next turn. Creatures within this area must make a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or take 18 (4d8) blighted energy damage and be frightened until the end of their next turn.

Description

A massive, ancient terror of the deep, the Blighted Megalodon is an unstoppable force of destruction. Corrupted by the Blighted Scourge, its once-pristine form has become twisted, with glowing fissures of dark energy coursing along its scarred flesh. This monstrous shark lurks in the abyssal waters, its Aura of Blighted Depths poisoning the very sea around it. When it attacks, it unleashes devastating Tsunami Crashes, sending waves of necrotic energy to drown and overwhelm its prey. Even in death, the Blighted Megalodon releases a final, devastating Death Burst, ensuring that all who oppose it succumb to the same corruption that consumed it.
