Traits

Relative Density. The fractal can move through creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain.. It takes 5 (1d10) force damage if it ends its turn inside an object. If it ends its turn in the same space as a creature, both take 5 (1d10) force damage

Exoskeletal Defenses. The fractal can disguise as a layer of armor. It gives +1 armor class.

Augment. As a bonus action, the fractal’s size increases by one category. While the fractal is Medium or bigger, it makes Strength checks and Strength saving throws with advantage. The fractal can become no larger than Huge via this bonus action.

Diminish. As a bonus action, the fractal’s size decreases by one category. While the fractal is Tiny, it makes attack rolls, Dexterity checks, and Dexterity saving throws with advantage. The fractal can become no smaller than 1 foot in height via this bonus action.

Actions

Quantum Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft. when tiny, small, or medium / reach 10 ft. when large or huge, one target.

Tiny: 3 (1d4 + 1) force damage.

Small: 4 (1d6 + 1) force damage.

Medium: 5 (1d8 + 1) force damage.

Large: 6 (1d10 + 1) force damage.

Huge: 7 (1d12 + 1) force damage.

Singularity Breath (Recharge 5–6). The fractal creates a shining bead of gravitational force in its mouth, then releases the energy in a 15-foot cone or a 30-foot line when tiny, small, or medium. The cone size increases to a 20-foot cone when large & a 25-foot cone when huge. Each creature in that area must make a DC 13 Strength saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 10 (4d4) force damage, and its speed becomes 0 until the end of the their next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage, and its speed isn’t reduced.

Dimensional Cage. If the fractal ends its turn on a creature and is larger than it, the creature must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or become grappled. Failure by 5 or More: the target instead becomes restrained. At the end of each of its turns, the target repeats the save, ending the effect on itself on a success. Once the effect ends, the fractal appears within 5 ft. of the creature. At, both take 5 (1d10) force damage.

Reactions

Exoskeletal Guard. As a reaction of the wearer, the fractal can concentrate its form to shield from attacks. Until the end of the attacker's turn, the armor class bonus becomes +5.

Description

To an untrained eye, a fractal mascot looks like a creature made from facets of hard light. But arithmancers know that these fractals are actually living equations: artificial life forms created by extrapolating magic from the mathematical patterns in nature.

Because of their arithmetic basis, fractal mascots can alter both their size and density. Quandrix College has adopted the fractal as its mascot, and many a Quandrix student can be found playing fetch with a fractal companion in between lessons.
