Restless Souls: When the Shade is killed 1-20 (decided by a roll of a d20) of the evil spirits that it was made of may possess the bodies of dead creatures nearby, including fallen party members or allies. The possessed enemies only have half of their original health and if they have spell slots they can only use those that the body had before death with the addition of now being able to cast Eldritch Blast.

Mind Manipulation: The Shade can force its way into the mind of any intelligent being three times a day and re-direct a melee attack they make to any other valid target.

Mind of Many Souls: Any attempts to affect the Shades mind will fail and cause the one attempting it to suffer 2d6 psychic damage.

Fated End: The Shade will always survive on one health unless the attack that would kill it inflicts piercing damage

Inhuman Eyesight: The Shade cannot miss any melee attack under any circumstances.

Description

A Shade is a large collection of powerful and evil spirits that have gained complete control of a spellcasters body, forming this terrifying creature. They can be formed either by the spirits summoned by the spellcaster were too strong for them and have forcefully taken over, a spellcaster can also willingly surrender himself to spirits in order to create a Shade. The original spellcaster is still somewhere deep in their mind but locked away, it is impossible to convert a Shade back into the being it once was. The dark spirits all form together into one singular mind which the Shade names itself with. All knowledge from every spirit that is part of the being is condensed and can be accessed by the Shade at any time.

Each Shade is usually made up of a minimum of three-hundred spirits, and there is no such thing as a good Shade since only the darkest of spirits are powerful and ambitious enough to form together in this way. Shades are masters of Magic due to the large amount of spellcasters within them and their physical strength, reflexes, speed and resistance are greatly enhanced. Shades have a wide range of spellcasters spirits making them up but they can only use Warlock spells due to Warlocks being the most ambitious and therefore most dominant spirits. The only way to kill a Shade is to pierce it through the heart, then all the spirits disband and are released.
