Description

Resembling a bulbous, fleshy lump with chitonous legs and tentacles extruding from their orifices, one might be forgiven for assuming cthurkeys arose from the depths of the Underdark. However, they are strictly culinary abominations — literally cooked up by chefs with a knack for magic to act as guardians or as a form of pest control.

The first cthurkey the brain child of an archivist from Candlekeep, who debuted the monster meal as a centerpiece for a Midwinter feast. It was, of course, simply a dish at the time, and was never intended to come to life. And it might not have, had it not been for a visiting wizard's overindulgence during the festivities. A wizard who had in his possession a grimoire of a unfathomable evil originating from the Far Realm.

Needless to say, the party quickly went downhill from there...

A cthurkey is a creature with a fleshy body resembling a plucked bird with crab-like legs and pincers protruding from its underside and a mass of tentacles sprouting from one end.  Though they originated on the surface world, they quickly made their way into Underdark tunnels and pools.  Scavengers and opportunistic predators, cthurkeys are not picky eaters and will eat virtually any organic matter they come across.
