Description
The fighting elite of the Atraxian legions, veterans are either those who have already served a campaign or who have been recruited from professional soldiery - men-at-arms, knights, mercenaries and even adventurers. These soldiers typically pay for their own equipment and are trained with a wide variety of weapons, meaning they are much better equipped than their fellows.
Standardisation exists however, and as a result veterans are typically equipped with the characteristic longspear and shield with a pair of javelins. Veterans either make up the command staff of smaller units and garrisons under commissioned officers or entire cohorts of battle-hardened troops.
