Bane worms are worm-like creatures of great size that cause tremors when they move, with jaws so big that they can swallow a whole mount in one bite. Generally having an armored skin encasing most of their bodies, which have longitudinal rows of black, slightly hooked spikes. Its mouth has a split lower jaw, and the mouth contained dozens of smaller worm-like tendrils. These creatures can range from large to gargantuan depending on age. They are rarely ever seen fully above ground, as they prefer to travel beneath the sands. These creatures make crossing the lands of Ruidas very treacherous.
- Multiattack: Two attacks
- Bite attack: Serrated tendrils within the mouth cause piercing damage (28-30 damage demonstrated). Target must succeed on a Dexterity save to avoid being swallowed (18 succeeded, 9 failed). Swallowed creatures take ~ 18 points of acid damage at the start of their turns and need to do enough damage to the creature to exceed a CON save to be released.
- Bane spines: Spines are ejected in a 15-foot radius causing 23-28 demonstrated piercing damage. Targets succeeding on a Dexterity save take half damage and are not poisoned (19 succeeded).
The bane worm has two reactions per round.
Burrow: As a reaction, the bane worm can dive underground and move half its movement speed. This movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Piercing cry: The worm emits a piercing shriek all players must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be Deaf and Frightened for 4 rounds, or until they can make the Constitution save DC. The DC increases by 1 for each failed attempt.
