Keen Smell. The troll has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Regeneration. The troll regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn. If the troll takes acid or cold damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of the troll's next turn, but if the troll is hit with fire damage it regenerates 20 hit points instead when hit with one of the negative damage types and fire it cancels out. The troll dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.
Firery Flesh. When a creature starts it's turn next to the volcanic troll or hits it with a melee attack it will take 7 (2d6) fire damage.
Multiattack. The troll makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage and 4 (1d4 + 2) fire damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage and 3 (1d4 + 1) fire damage.
Description
Fearsome ashen grey and orange-skinned giants, trolls eat anything they can catch and devour. Only acid and cold can arrest the regenerative properties of a troll’s flesh and fire will make this troll cousin regenerate twice as fast.
The Volcanic troll also emits dim light for 10-feet.
Lair and Lair Actions
A Volcanic troll are most commonly found around active volcanoes and as such there is a chance that the volcano will go off.
At the initiative count of 20 roll, a d100 and if the result equals 100 then the volcano has erupted. At the initiative of the volcano (20) next turn have the party roll a dex save or take 18 (4d8) fire damage which goes up by 9 (2d8) every turn the volcano stays active. When you roll a 1 on the d100 the volcano will then go inactive for 7 days.
