Adaptable (5/long rest). When the Afrovenator makes a check, it may expend one use to roll a d6 and add it to that total. In addition, it only takes 5 days for the Afrovenator to adapt to terrain or biome hazards (ex: weather, sinking sand, heavy mud, etc.), unless those conditions are caused by ocean depths below 300 feet.
Megalosauroid. The Afrovenator can communicate with other megalosaurs, plus Baryonyx and Suchomimus. In addition, it can hold it's breath underwater for 5 minutes and use a bonus action to add 5 to it's swim speed.
Favored Prey. The Afrovenator deals one extra damage die to sauropods and iguanodonts.
Multiattack. The Afrovenator attacks twice when it takes the attack action, but it cannot bite the same target twice in a round unless it is a sauropod.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 31 (4d12 + 5) piercing damage.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 large or smaller target. Hit: 26 (2d20 + 5) slashing damage.
Swim. The Afrovenator adds 5 to it's swim speed.
Evade. Until the start of the Afrovenator's next turn, a creature that attacks the Afrovenator adds only half of their proficiency bonus to their attack roll.
Endure. If the Afrovenator makes a saving throw against bleed or exhaustion, it may reroll and gain resistance to bleed damage until the end of the next creature's turn.
Improved Opportunity Attack. The Afrovenator makes a bite attack against a creature that moves out of it's reach, without adding it's proficiency bonus if they take the disengage action. On a hit, the target takes an additional 9 (2d8) slashing damage and must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or start taking 5 (2d4) bleed damage each turn until their turn. Alternatively, the Afrovenator can attempt to pull the creature back, the creature instead rolls a Strength saving throw (same DC) and is pulled back to where it started, knocked prone on a fail of 2 or more, and can only take the attack or cast a spell/magic action this round. The target can only attack once even if it has extra attack or multiattack.
Description
A relatively lightweight megalosaur, the Afrovenator prefers environments such as coastal forests and lagoons, or savannahs, where many sauropods and/or iguanodonts can be found. It's build ensures it can do enough damage to it's prey, whilst taking a decent amount of damage and also being able to chase said prey. They are also relatively agile and quite adaptable, part of why they are a highly-sought tame and mount.
