Traits

  • Bound Majesty: Yvranos radiates an aura of oppressive royalty. All creatures within 120 feet of him have disadvantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed by him. Additionally, enemies within 30 feet of Yvranos take 10 (3d6) necrotic damage at the start of each of their turns.

  • Legendary Resistance (3/Day): If Yvranos fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

  • Undying Curse: Any creature that reduces Yvranos's hit points to 0 or makes him fail a saving throw to resist death must make a DC 28 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is cursed by Yvranos, taking 30 (6d10) necrotic damage at the start of each of its turns for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the curse on a success.

  • Soul Prison: Yvranos's bound nature causes the souls of those slain by him to become trapped within his body, fueling his power. When a creature dies within 60 feet of Yvranos, he gains temporary hit points equal to half the creature's hit point maximum (up to a maximum of 100 temporary hit points).

  • Aura of Dread (Recharge 5-6): Yvranos can create an aura of psychic terror in a 60-foot radius centered on him. Creatures within this aura must make a DC 28 Wisdom saving throw or be paralyzed with fear for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

  • Rebirth of the Damned (1/Day): Upon reaching 0 hit points, Yvranos immediately revives with 100 hit points. His body becomes a swirling vortex of dark energy for 1 minute, in which he can take two actions per turn. When this ability is triggered, all creatures within 30 feet must make a DC 28 Constitution saving throw, taking 60 (12d10) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. This ability can only be used once per long rest.

Actions
  • Multiattack: Yvranos makes three attacks: one with his sword and two with his necrotic touch.

  • Necrotic Sword of the Bound King: Melee Weapon Attack: +21 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 60 (8d10 + 10) slashing damage plus 30 (6d10) necrotic damage. On a critical hit, the target must make a DC 28 Constitution saving throw or be stunned for 1 minute.

  • Necrotic Touch: Melee Weapon Attack: +21 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 40 (7d8 + 10) necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it must make a DC 28 Constitution saving throw or have its maximum hit points reduced by 10 (3d6) for 24 hours.

  • King’s Wrath (Recharge 5-6): Yvranos unleashes his wrath upon his enemies. All creatures within 120 feet must make a DC 28 Dexterity saving throw, taking 100 (20d10) necrotic damage and being knocked prone on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

  • Command the Fallen (Recharge 5-6): Yvranos raises the dead around him, reanimating fallen creatures within 60 feet of him as undead soldiers. Up to 5 creatures that have died in the last hour are reanimated with full hit points and act immediately after Yvranos’s turn. These creatures remain under Yvranos’s control for 1 minute or until destroyed. Yvranos can control a maximum of 10 undead in this way at any time.

Mythic Actions

Upon reaching 0 hit points, Yvranos enters a Mythic Phase. During this phase, he gains access to the following mythic actions, which he can take at the end of any creature’s turn:

  • Veil of the Bound King (Costs 2 Actions): Yvranos creates a shroud of dark energy that surrounds him. Until the start of his next turn, he has resistance to all damage types except force and psychic, and creatures that start their turn within 30 feet of him take 20 (4d10) necrotic damage.

  • King’s Command (Costs 1 Action): Yvranos commands the fallen to strike once more. He can force up to 3 undead he controls within 60 feet to make one attack with advantage. If the attack hits, the target must make a DC 28 Constitution saving throw or take an additional 30 (6d10) necrotic damage.

  • Undying Resurgence (Costs 3 Actions): Yvranos calls upon the souls within his body to reinvigorate him. He regains 100 hit points, and all creatures within 60 feet must make a DC 28 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute.

  • Rend the Soul (Costs 2 Actions): Yvranos rips at the soul of one creature he can see within 120 feet. The target must make a DC 28 Charisma saving throw or take 80 (20d8) necrotic damage. On a failed save, the target also suffers disadvantage on all attacks, saving throws, and ability checks for 1 minute.

Description

Yvranos, the Bound King, is a terrifying and oppressive force. He resides within the Tower of Lords, often surrounded by the souls of the damned, who are bound to his service. The air around him feels thick with necrotic energy, and his very presence invokes dread, commanding the obedience of all who dare approach him. His ultimate goal is to unleash his full wrath upon the world and reclaim his lost kingdom, which was shattered by a betrayal millennia ago.
