Traits

Burning Touch. When the regisaur hits a target is a creature or a flammable object, it ignites. Until a creature takes an action to douse the fire, the target takes 14 (4d6) fire damage.

Fuel for the Fire. The regisaur doesn’t treat plant life as difficult terrain. Whenever the regisaur begins its turn in a space of plant life that provides cover, it burns the plant life away from all spaces it is currently occupying, healing 6 (2d6) hit points for each 5-foot square of such plant life it has consumed. If it heals for 34 or more damage in this way, it recharge its Roaring Cinders.

Going in for the Kill. If the regisaur moves at least 10 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a bite attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 6 (1d12) piecing damage and 3 (1d6) fire damage for every 10 feet it move before attacking. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 24 Strength saving throw or fall prone.

Hungering Flame. The regisaur regains hit points equal to half of all fire damage it deals to creatures on its turn (doubled against Plant creatures). Additionally, when the regisaur is subjected to fire damage, it instead regains hit points equal to that damage.

Infernal Body. A creature that touches the regisaur or hits it with a melee attack while within 10 feet of it takes 22 (4d10) fire damage and must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or catch fire; until someone takes an action to douse the fire, the creature takes 11 (2d10) fire damage at the start of each of its turns.

Magic Resistance. The regisaur has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Smoke Sense. While the regisaur is in contact with smoke, has blindsight in that smoke’s area in a radius of up to 240 feet.

Water Susceptibility. For every 5 feet the regisaur moves in water, or for every gallon of water splashed on it, it takes 1 cold damage.

Actions

Multiattack. The regisaur makes one Bite attack and one Tail attack. The regisaur can’t target the same creature with both attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 48 (6d12 + 9) piercing damage plus 14 (4d6) fire damage, and the target has the grappled condition (escape DC 24). Until this grapple ends, the target has the restrained condition, it takes 7 (2d6) fire damage at the start of each of its and the regisaur's turns, and the regisaur can’t Bite another target.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 27 (4d8 + 9) bludgeoning damage plus 14 (4d6) fire damage.

Roaring Cinders (Recharge 5–6). The regisaur emits a wave of smoldering ash and flame from its jaws in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 45 (10d8) fire damage, be blinded until the end of its next turn, be pushed 30 feet away from the regisaur, and be knocked prone. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and is only pushed half as far. For each creature that made the saving throw, a pair of Mjork Sootling Swarms will take form in unoccupied spaces withi 5 feet of each other within the cone. All swarms created this way are allies of the regisaur, taking their turns as a group immediately before it.

Bonus Actions

Smoke Shroud. The regisaur can choose to emit smoke in a 40-foot-radius or stop emitting smoke. While emitting smoke, the area is heavily obscured. This smoke goes around corners. The whole shroud dissipates during any round the regisaur is exposed to moderate (at least 10 miles per hour) or stronger wind. At the end of each of its turn that the regisuar is emitting smoke, a Mjork Asher will take form within the smoke. All ashers created this way take their turns as a group immediately after it.

Swallow. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 5 ft., one Huge or smaller creature grappled by the regisaur. Hit: The regisaur hits the target with a bite attack and then swallows the target, ending the grapple. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the regisaur, and it takes 42 (12d6) fire damage at the start of each of its turns. The regisaur can have up to four creatures swallowed at a time.

If the regisaur takes 35 damage or more on a single turn from a swallowed creature, the regisaur must succeed on a DC 23 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate the creature, which falls in a space within 5 feet of the regisaur and lands prone; the creature is no longer blinded and restrained.

Description

Aptly called “the ruler of dinosaurs,” a regisaur is an enormous predator large enough to swallow a giant whole. Fiery veins of elemental energy course through its skin and glow in its eyes and nostrils.

Volcanic Regisaurs are among the oldest living specimens of their kind, having learned how to harness their inert elemental potential for hunting and combat. When hunting, it creates forest fires and uses the smoke to stalk its panicking prey before going in for the kill. Their deadliest feature it possess is the ability to give life to the soot and ash they create, granting them a huge advantage in numbers in mere moments. When unable to catch a meal, the burn down entire forests and jungles to sate their hunger as they feed on the ash and charcoal of the destruction they cause.

Dinosaurs

When Annam’s children first began to populate the worlds of the Material Plane, the All-Father created behemoth dinosaurs to live alongside them as companions. The primeval magic used to create the dinosaurs still thrums through their being and manifests in colorful, scar-like lines on their towering bodies. Some of these ancient dinosaurs persist in timeless jungles, hidden enclaves, and other lands untouched by the rest of the world.
