Description
The arctic-dwelling avalanche tortoise is a breed of tortoise that once where touched by the Elemental Planes. Changed to have vibrant blue scales and shell that are lined with a frost white. Covering their claws and the top of their shell they form large durable shards of ice that they use for their own defense, as well as offense.
Familiar Variant
When avalanche tortoises are tiny hatchlings, they are known to form bonds with casters who specialize in spells of ice and snow. Often seeing the caster as its parent, they form a magical connection with them. While they have this connection, if they were to hit 0 hit points they instead withdraw into their shell and cover themselves in ice, gaining immunity to all forms of damage. The caster must cast find familiar to thaw the ice and use it as a familiar again.
