False Appearance. While the blight mound remains motionless in swampy and marshland conditions, it is indistinguishable from the surrounding foliage.
Malleable Form. Blight mounds are amorphous and have some capability to consciously change their body shape. They are able to move through the space of any other creature without provoking opportunity attacks.
Bounded Blight. When one or more blight mounds are within 5 feet of each other, and their combined hit points are below half their combined hit point maximum, one of them may spend a bonus action to merge all connected mounds into a singular larger blight hulker. Additionally, any blight mound under half its hit point maximum may also use a bonus action to merge with a pre existing blight hulker as long as it is within 5 feet of it.
A blight hulker's statistics depend on the number of blight mounds it's made up of. See the (Hulker) tag in Actions when determining the actions for the blight hulker. The blight hulker is considered a large creature and its hit point maximum is the combined total of each blight mound, and it regains 2d6 hit points for each bounded blight mound. It's AC also changes to 17.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
Draining Spore. The blight mound deflates slightly, releasing a toxic spore cloud into the air. All creatures within 10 feet of the blight mound must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking (3d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Additionally, the blight mound regains a number of hit points equal to half the total damage dealt.
(Hulker) Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage
(Hulker) Plague Maw. The blight hulker chooses a target within 5 feet of it. That creature must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed. A swallowed takes (5d4) necrotic damage each time they start their turn inside the creature. A swallowed creature must make a DC 17 Strength saving throw to pull themselves free of the blight hulker. If a creature loses all its hit points whilst swallowed, it is fully absorbed by the blight hulker, the blight hulker regains a number of hit points equal to half the creatures hit point maximum.
Bounded Blight. When a blight mound is within 5 feet at least one other blight mound and their combined hit points are below their combined hit point maximum they merge into a singular larger blight hulker.
Description
A blight mound is a grotesque amalgamation of decaying plant and animal matter. The perpetual rotting odour excreted from these mindless swamp zombies is almost as off putting as the slick black ichor that seems to hang off them, as well as the crowds of flies that they attract. These strange creatures seem to have a hivemind like capability that allows them to merge with one another, becoming larger and more dangerous, and curiously more intelligent too. Currently, there is no known limit on number of blight mounds able to merge into a singular entity.
