Traits

Magic Resistance. The gnomish vampire has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Sunlight Hypersensitivity. The vampire takes 20 radiant damage when it starts its turn in sunlight. While in sunlight, it has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.

Ageless Paralysis. When the gnomish vampire deals damage with its unarmed strike, the target must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or lose 2 points of Dexterity. A creature reduced to 0 Dexterity by this effect dies as its body succumbs to paralysis. If the victim is a gnome, it rises as a gnomish vampire spawn under the control of the attacking vampire 24 hours after death unless its body is destroyed.

Spider Climb. The gnomish vampire can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check, but only on stone or earthen surfaces.

Underground Awareness. The vampire always knows its approximate depth and direction underground.

Actions

Multiattack. The vampire makes two attacks with its Unarmed Strike or one attack with its weapon.

Unarmed Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or lose 2 Dexterity (see Ageless Paralysis).

Horrific Grin (Recharge 5-6). The vampire twists its features into a ghastly smile. Each creature within 30 feet that can see the grin must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or fall into fits of laughter for 1 minute. While laughing, the creature is incapacitated and takes 3 (1d6) psychic damage at the start of each of its turns. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Charm. The vampire targets one creature it can see within 30 feet. If the target can see the vampire, it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by the vampire for 24 hours. The charmed target regards the vampire as a trusted friend and will follow its commands willingly. The effect ends if the vampire or its allies attack the charmed target.

Command Beast. The vampire targets one beast it can see within 30 feet. The beast must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or obey the vampire's commands for up to 1 hour.

Bonus Actions

Spectral Form. The vampire can assume a glowing, orb-like form for up to 1 minute. While in this form, the vampire has a flying speed of 60 feet, can move through solid objects, and is immune to nonmagical damage. It cannot move through wooden objects or attack while in this form.

Legendary Actions

The gnomish vampire can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn.

  • Spectral Dash. The vampire moves up to its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
  • Darkvision Pulse. The vampire emits a pulse of necrotic energy, reducing the light radius of all light sources within 30 feet by half for 1 minute.
  • Horrific Gaze (Costs 2 Actions). The vampire targets one creature within 60 feet that can see it. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute.

Description

Gnomish vampires are a rare, alien breed of undead that dwell in the deep, shadowed caves of the world. Once cheerful and mischievous, they are now dour, silent predators whose features reflect the terrible weight of their undeath. These creatures are masters of the underground and wield their eerie abilities with deadly precision, their unsettling grins capable of incapacitating even the most stalwart foes.
