Traits

Fatigue Aura. Creatures within 20 feet of the halfling vampire must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take three levels of exhaustion. A creature that succeeds on its saving throw is immune to this aura for 24 hours.

Life Drain. When the halfling vampire hits a creature with a melee weapon attack, the target takes an additional 5 (1d10) necrotic damage, and its Strength and Constitution scores are each reduced by 1. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. If a creature’s Constitution is reduced to 0, it dies and rises as a halfling vampire in 1d4 days unless its body is destroyed.

Natural Affinity. The halfling vampire retains the racial traits of its halfling origin, including advantage on saving throws against being frightened.

Regeneration. The halfling vampire regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point and isn’t in direct sunlight, submerged in rain, or on consecrated ground.

Shapechanger. As an action, the halfling vampire can transform into the shape of a Tiny woodland creature (such as a badger, fox, or squirrel) or a cloud of smoke. While in animal form, it retains its Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores, but it gains the physical statistics and movement abilities of the creature. In its smoke form, it cannot attack, is immune to all damage except magical fire, radiant damage, and damage from holy water, and can pass through small cracks and openings.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in direct sunlight, the halfling vampire takes 20 radiant damage at the start of its turn and has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks.

Weaknesses

Rain Aversion. The halfling vampire takes damage each round it is exposed to rain. Light rain deals 5 (1d6) radiant damage, heavy rain deals 9 (1d8), and torrential rain deals 15 (1d10).

Hearthfire Vulnerability. A weapon crafted from wood and set ablaze with hearth fire deals an additional 10 radiant damage to the vampire. If this weapon is used to reduce the vampire to 0 hit points, its body must be dismembered and burned in a hearth fire for three hours to ensure its destruction.

Pipeweed Aversion. The halfling vampire cannot willingly approach within 20 feet of the smell of burning pipeweed.

Actions

Multiattack. The halfling vampire makes two attacks with its shortsword or bite.

Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 4) piercing damage, plus 5 (1d10) necrotic damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one willing creature, or a creature that is grappled by the halfling vampire, incapacitated, or restrainedHit: 7 (1d6 + 1) piercing damage, plus 7 (2d6) necrotic damage. The target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the necrotic damage taken, and the halfling vampire regains hit points equal to that amount. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest.

Summon Woodland Beasts (Recharge 6). The halfling vampire summons 4d6 Hit Dice worth of woodland creatures within 60 feet. These creatures obey the vampire’s commands and act on its turn.

Description

Halfling vampires are tragic abominations. Their undead state warps their joyful, life-loving nature into a bitter hatred for the living, particularly their halfling kin. They retain their nimble grace and deceptive charm but use these to manipulate and prey on the innocent.

These vampires are dangerous manipulators, combining their natural halfling cunning with vampiric predation. Their preference for woodland lairs and ability to command beasts make them a menace to travelers and rural communities.
