Traits

Hypnotic Pattern.

The Arborfangs hair shimmers with a mesmerizing, ever-shifting pattern of glowing colors, reminiscent of moonlight filtering through leaves. When a creature within 30 feet of the Arborfang can see it, the creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 14) or become charmed for 1 minute. While charmed in this way, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0 as it becomes entranced by the hypnotic display.

The effect ends early for a creature if it takes damage or if another creature uses an action to shake it out of its stupor. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to this effect for 24 hours.

Natural Camouflage.

The Arborfangs body and hair blend seamlessly into its surroundings, mimicking the textures and colors of the environment. While in dim light or darkness, the Arborfang has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks to hide.

Additionally, creatures that rely on sight to detect the Arborfang have disadvantage on Perception checks made to spot it unless they possess truesight or similar abilities.

If the Arborfang remains motionless for 1 minute, it becomes nearly indistinguishable from the terrain, requiring a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check (DC 16) to discern its presence. The Arborfang has a fruit shaped tongue that it uses to try and trick its target.

Actions

Bite Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: (2d8 + 4) Piercing damage. When it bites its target the target must succeed a DC 13 Con save. Failure target takes an additional 1d6 poison damage.

Body Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: (2d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, it must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Bonus Actions

Burrow.

As a bonus action, the Arborfang swiftly digs into soft ground, disappearing beneath the surface. It moves up to half its burrow speed and remains hidden as long as it stays underground. If it emerges in the same turn, it can make a Stealth check with advantage to remain unnoticed.

While burrowed, the Arborfang cannot be targeted by attacks or spells unless the attacker can sense creatures underground. It can emerge from the ground in an unoccupied space within its burrow range, surprising prey and regaining the advantage of its camouflage.

Reactions

Defensive Burrow.

When the Arborfang takes significant damage, it can attempt to retreat into the ground.

The Arborfang can immediately move up to half its burrow speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
