Acidic Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: target takes (6d8 + 4) piercing damage, and an additional (3d6) poison damage. Creatures struck with this attack are considered grappled. The ant-lion may only grapple one creature in this way. Escape DC 15.

Description
Ant-lions are insect-like ambush hunters which dig conical shaped burrows. Often found in arid, desert environments, they hide themselves under the sands waiting for their unlucky prey to stumble over them. Once prey has made themselves apparent, the ant-lion strikes from below delivering a vicious acidic bite. Often times an ant-lion's prey will be pulled under the sands to solidify their untimely demise. Once devoured, the ant-lion burrows once again, patiently waiting for its next unlucky meal.
Lair and Lair Actions
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the ant-lion takes a lair action to cause the following effect; the ant-lion can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- The ant-lion thrashes about causing the surrounding sand to become unstable. Creatures within 30 ft of the ant-lion must succeed a DC 15 DEX saving throw or fall 10 feet closer to the ant-lion.
Regional Effects
The region containing an ant-lion's burrow is comprised of loose sand which creates the following effect:
- The area within a 30ft radius of the ant-lion is considered difficult terrain when moving away from the ant-lion.
