Traits

Magic Resistance. The Blighted Pyremass has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Heated Corpse. Any creature that touches the Blighted Pyremass or hits it with a melee attack within 15 feet takes 14 (4d6) fire damage and must succeed a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Grasps of the Dead. Whenever the Pyremass lands a melee attack, the target must succeed a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be grappled (escape DC 20) and restrained until the end of its next turn.

Overwhelming Stench. Creatures that start their turn within 60 feet must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. While poisoned this way, they also suffer disadvantage on Strength and Dexterity saving throws. A creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns.

Gravebound Horror. At the start of each of its turns, 1d4+1 Pyre Ghasts (CR 5) rise from the ground within 30 feet of it. These undead act on the Pyremass's initiative but take their turns immediately after it.

Living Funeral Pyre. When the Blighted Pyremass is reduced to 0 hit points, it explodes in a 60-foot radius, forcing all creatures in range to make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) fire damage + 42 (12d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. This explosion immediately ignites any flammable objects not being worn or carried.

Actions

Multiattack. The Blighted Pyremass makes two Corpse Grasp attacks and one Fling Corpses attack or Wails from the Pyre, D6 recharge ability landing on a 5-6.

🔹 Corpse Grasp. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target.
Hit: 32 (5d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage + 14 (4d6) fire damage. If the target is Large or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 20) and restrained until the end of its next turn.

🔹 Fling Corpses. Ranged Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, range 60 ft., one target.
Hit: 28 (4d10 + 8) bludgeoning damage. The corpse explodes on impact—creatures within 10 feet must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 24 (6d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.

🔹 Wails from the Pyre. (Recharge 5-6) Ranged Ability (120 ft.)
The Blighted Pyremass unleashes a horrific scream. All creatures within range must make a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or suffer:

  • On a failure: They are frightened and must use their turn to Dash away from the Pyremass. They take 21 (6d6) psychic damage per round while frightened.
  • On a success: They take half damage and are not frightened.
  • The effect lasts until the target moves more than 120 feet away or succeeds on a new saving throw at the end of their turn.
Legendary Actions

Corpse Grasp (Costs 1 Action). The Pyremass makes a Corpse Grasp attack.

Suffocating Ash. (Costs 2 Actions). The Pyremass exhales blackened ash in a 30-foot radius cloud centered on itself, which lasts for 1 minute. The area is heavily obscured, all attacks are at disadvantage while covered in smoke, and creatures inside must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the start of their turn or gain 1 level of exhaustion. Non-magical fire inside the area is extinguished. The Pyremass is unaffected.

Pyre Explosion (Costs 3 Actions). The Pyremass detonates a corpse from the battlefield, targeting creatures within 30 feet. The target must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) fire damage + 42 (12d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success.
