It''s very weird that this is a Monstrosity and not a Beast. I'm guessing it's because it can understand Common and has 6 INT, making it too "smart" to be a Beast? Still weird.
It feels like they turned up its intelligence so they could justify making it a monstrosity
They were intelligent in the old book too.
Literally the only stat change is its con went from 15 to 16. All its mental stats are the same as in 2014.
it also has necrotic resistance now, but my theory is that - like the giant eagle and owl becoming celestials - it was removed from the beast category so it can’t be used as a moon druid combat wildshape 🙄 . there are no flying beasts in the 2024 books with a CR higher than 1/2 and i’m firmly convinced this is the reason for it.
