Multiattack. The weretiger makes two attacks, using Scratch or Longbow in any combination. It can replace one attack with a Bite attack.
Bite (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 3) Piercing damage. If the target is a Humanoid, it is subjected to the following effect. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 13. Failure: The target is cursed. If the cursed target drops to 0 Hit Points, it instead becomes a Weretiger under the DM’s control and has 10 Hit Points. Success: The target is immune to this weretiger’s curse for 24 hours.
Scratch. Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 5 ft. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) Slashing damage.
Longbow (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Ranged Attack Roll: +4, range 150/600 ft. Hit: 11 (2d8 + 2) Piercing damage.
Prowl (Tiger or Hybrid Form Only). The weretiger moves up to its Speed without provoking Opportunity Attacks. At the end of this movement, the weretiger can take the Hide action.
Shape-Shift. The weretiger shape-shifts into a Large tiger-humanoid hybrid or a Large tiger, or it returns to its true humanoid form. Its game statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn’t transformed.

Posted Feb 26, 2025Lost Damage immunities and resistances from non magic/silvered weapons AND players cant really be Lycanthropes anymore since it specifically says "under the DM's control"?
No thanks, ill stick with the old stat block.

Posted Apr 10, 2025To be honest, neither stat block is that great. I go third party when it comes to lycanthropy.

Posted Jan 4, 2026Any reccs? Wanna use a lycanthrope cult against my players, and I could use some actually good stats.

Posted Jan 6, 2026Lairs of Etharis has a good “werewolf ravager” at CR 7. I’ve used it. It works for even a lower level party. Players expect werewolves to be a serious threat.

Posted Mar 12, 2026Wow... Weretigers got nerfed in this stat block. Every other Lycanthrope got something to make up for removal of no silvered BPS immunity. This however, has the exact same HP and AC, and only minor attack damage bonus's. I ran one of these against two level 5 characters with a Wererat and Panther on its side, and they completley gutted him.

Posted Mar 15, 2026This version is disappointing, but I think there's a couple reasons this is inevitable no matter what the statblock is, and for a couple reasons:
- unlike with a monster like, say, a behir or kuo toa, werebeasts are staples of pop culture, and people come into D&D with an idea of what a "werewolf" should be, and this idea is informed by a wide number of things that aren't D&D.
- to quote Keith Baker about the new way of doing werebeasts, I don't like it, but I understand it. The point of the Monster Manual is that the CR should be consistent. If possession of specific weapons was the difference between a cakewalk and the martial characters being absolutely useless, the CR will be thrown off. Don't get me wrong, the thought of a tough fight against a werebeast forcing the party to retreat and come back with silver weapons might make for good storytelling, but if you have an inexperienced DM or inexperienced party, there's so many ways that could go wrong.
- regarding being turned into a werebeast, if the DM doesn't want that to be the focus of the campaign, they have to be very careful about even allowing the potential for that in a one off wilderness encounter. As a DM, I personally would rule that most werebeasts cannot turn someone by bite, but rather through a somewhat intricate ritual (which may or may not be performed on someone against their will), although I'd consider allowing a greater werebeast (such as the Loup Garou from Van Richten's Guide) to do that.
