Rend. Melee Attack Roll: +10, reach 10 ft. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) Slashing damage.
Fire Breath (Recharge 5–6). Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 17, each creature in a 30-foot Cone. Failure: 55 (10d10) Fire damage. Success: Half damage.
Weakening Breath. Strength Saving Throw: DC 17, each creature that isn’t currently affected by this breath in a 30-foot Cone. Failure: The target has Disadvantage on Strength-based D20 Tests and subtracts 3 (1d6) from its damage rolls. It repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. After 1 minute, it succeeds automatically.
Am I missing something or is the YGD strictly better than the YRD? Gold has more Dex, Int and Wis and the only stat the red has more is Cha, which doesn't matter in most scenarios. The red dragons rend attack deals less damage on average, especially against creatures with fire resistances or immunities. The gold has simply more skill proficencies and has the weakening breath as an option. They also have a swim speed and the amphibious trait, both of which are more useful than the climbing speed the red dragon has. The only advantage i could spot was the fact that the breath weapon from the red dragon deal on average 1 more point of damage, which is just not early as useful as the plethora of advantages the gold has.
