Shapechanger (5/day). Blythe can use their action to polymorph into any creature they choose, including that of a person they have seen. They cannot replicate the appearance of a person they have not seen, and their eyes and vocal echo stay the same. Their statistics change to suit the new form. Blythe changes back into their base form if they reach zero hit points, and any excess damage taken hurts them directly. They can transform into themselves as a bonus action on their turn, not expending a charge of this feature.
Innate Spellcasting. Blythe's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 21). They can cast the following spells innately, requiring no material components:
At will: Acid Splash, Dancing Lights, Fire Bolt, Light, Mage Hand, Message, Minor Illusion, Shocking Grasp, Cure Wounds
4/day each: Burning Hands, Charm Person, Disguise Self, Feather Fall, Mage Armor, Magic Missile, Shield
3/day each: Alter Self, Cloud of Daggers, Crown of Madness, Darkness, Detect Thoughts, Enlarge/Reduce, Gust of Wind, Levitate, Misty Step, Scorching Ray, Blink, Clairvoyance, Counterspell, Fireball, Fly, Lightning Bolt, Major Image, Slow
2/day each: Dimension Door, Greater Invisibility, Polymorph, Animate Objects, Creation, Hold Monster, Teleportation Circle
1/day each: Chain Lightning, Disintegrate, Mass Suggestion, Move Earth, Fire Storm, Plane Shift, Teleport, Earthquake, Meteor Swarm, Time Stop
Matter Maker (5/day). Blythe can create matter from the power of Chaos. Such matter must fit within a 10-foot cube and may be as complex or as simple as required. The matter only disappears if Blythe chooses so (No action required).
Spiritual Nature. Blythe doesn't require food, drink, or sleep.
Multiattack. Blythe makes four Flaming Punch attacks.
Flaming Punch. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 8 (2d4+3) bludgeoning damage plus 10 (3d4+3) fire damage.
Chaotic Glance (Recharge 5-6). Blythe looks into the soul of a creature within 60 feet of themselves. This creates an effect based on their alignment, as shown below. If the Spell requires a save, the DC is 21, has a spell attack bonus of +11, and any Areas of Effect are centered on the creature (Except for that of Neutral Evil's effect).
- Chaotic Good: Casts Cure Wounds on the creature
- Chaotic Neutral: Casts Polymorph on the creature (Blythe's choice of what form the creature takes)
- Chaotic Evil: Casts Acid Splash on the creature
- Neutral Good: Casts Healing Word on the creature
- Neutral: Casts Confusion on the creature
- Neutral Evil: Casts Lightning Bolt centered on a point within 5 ft. of the creature, aiming towards the creature
- Lawful Good: No effect
- Lawful Neutral: Casts Burning Hands on the creature
- Lawful Evil: Casts Fireball on the creature
Description
Blythe, Spirit of Chaos, child of Phonix (of Discord) and Clover (of Nature), is often confused by mortals for a Deity, or as a messenger of one. Such past misidentifications include Loki, Apep, Tyche, Math Mathonwy, The Traveler, Olladra, Nuitari, Ralishaz, Boccob, Tymora, and many other deities of Chaos, Magic, and Fortune.
Spirits, despite their monikers, are embodiments of general concepts and live in one enduring, eternal family tree. Blythe is the second youngest in this family (at the age of 5,237 years old), after Dolores, of Fear; and Judy II, of Law. Spirits are not undead.
