Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 25 (6d6 + 4) piercing damage. The bloodveld heals an amount of hitpoints equal to half the damage it dealt (rounded down).
Life transferal. The bloodveld can choose to deal 25 (6d6 + 4) necrotic damage to itself and transfer the same amount of hitpoints to an ally as healing. The damage it does to itself with this feature cannot be reduced in any way.
Blood Magic. Any time someone within 30 ft of a bloodveld uses a spell that heals a creature, a bloodveld can take a reaction to siphon half of the hitpoints that are healed (rounded down) to itself, healing itself by that amount and reducing the efficacy of the healing spell by that amount. If multiple bloodvelds are present, only one can use this reaction on any single healing spell.
Description
The bloodveld takes the form of a blood red, four-legged creature with chitinous armor and an insectoid way of moving. It is mostly mouth, with the front side of its body opening into a massive circular maw, with half a dozen inward pointing fangs that are as long as a person's forearm. It attacks primarily with its tongue, a long, slimy appendage that shoots out of its circular maw and lashes like a whip. The tongue is covered in spines and barbs. The back end of the creature hosts a large, blood-red sack, much like a tick. It has no visible eyes.
