Traits

Astral Step (Recharge 5-6). As a bonus action, the Voidclaw can teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. When it teleports, it leaves behind a rift of shimmering darkness. Any creature within 10 feet of the starting or ending point must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or take 18 (4d8) force damage.

Planar Awareness. The Voidclaw can sense nearby dimensional rifts, portals, or leyline disturbances within 300 feet. It can detect the presence of spells like Dimension Door, Teleport, or Misty Step within its radius.

Void Predator. The Voidclaw’s melee weapon attacks are considered magical. When it deals damage to a creature, that creature must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be partially shifted into another plane, reducing its movement speed by half and granting disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws until the end of its next turn.

Actions

Multiattack. The Voidclaw makes three attacks: two with its claws and one with its bite.

Void Claw. Melee Attack Roll: +10, reach 10 ft. Hit: 21 (3d10 + 6) Slashing damage, plus (4d6) force damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 18 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Astral Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +10, reach 5 ft. Hit: 24 (4d8 + 6) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn as it glimpses into an astral void.

Dimensional Tear (Recharge 5-6). The Voidclaw slashes the air, creating a rip in reality in a 20-foot line that is 5 feet wide. Each creature in that line must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) force damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. The rip remains open until the start of the Voidclaw’s next turn, causing any creature that ends its turn in the area to take 10 (3d6) necrotic damage.

Bonus Actions

Nimble Escape. The Voidclaw takes the Disengage or Hide action.

Legendary Actions

3 per round

Void Leap. The Voidclaw teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

Rift Slash. The Voidclaw makes a claw attack.

Astral Pulse (Costs 2 Actions). The Voidclaw emits a pulse of astral energy in a 20-foot radius around itself. Each creature of its choice in that area must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Description

Tactics and Combat Behavior

The Voidclaw is an intelligent predator, preferring ambush tactics and striking when its prey is vulnerable. It uses Astral Step to reposition frequently, creating rifts that damage nearby enemies. Its Dimensional Tear ability disrupts enemy formations, and it uses Astral Pulse when outnumbered to force enemies into a defensive position.

In combat, the Voidclaw focuses on weakening mobile or magic-using characters first, exploiting any opportunity to knock enemies prone or reduce their movement using Void Predator. Once it begins to weaken its opponents, it becomes more aggressive, using Multiattack and Legendary Actions to press its advantage.
