The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Bonus Actions

Lightning Lure Attack: cantrip- A lash of lightning energy that strikes at one creature within 30 feet of Arthak. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw DC 15 or be pulled up to 15 feet in a straight line toward Arthak. Chain lightning attack:  Once per engagement, Arthak can use a legendary action to launch a lightning bolt toward a target within 30 feet of him. Three bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other targets of your choice, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts.

Each target makes a Dexterity saving throw DC15, taking 10d8 Lightning damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one.

Description

Arthak the Undead was a goliath gladiator who was defeated in a battle that ended in a riot of the spectators. He suffered severe head and brain trauma, but the riot began before his opponent landed the final death blow.  A necromancer, hoping to protect himself, cast "create undead" but the spell was warped as the goliath's body had not yet succombed to death. A fiend witnessed the spell, and in a moment of hellish inspiration inserted a dark gem into the goliath's empty eyesocket. The gem was inscribed with "healing word"  4(d4). The goliath's heavily damaged brain constantly reads the inscription, using hellish magic to cast the spell each round. The two magics merged to create a living version of a ghast, while retaining the goliath's storm giant heritage.

Because of the brain damage, Arthak is unable to speak, and is blind. Fiendish magic gave him blindsight within 35 feet. Arthak understands only very simple communication of no more than two words. This makes him immune to charm spells, and any other spells that involve more than two word commands.

He does not attack anything outside of 35 feet, with the exception of the chain lightning action which can jump past that boundary.  Arthak is immune to any spells that require target vision.  If attacked outside 35 feet, 50/50 Arthak charges attacker or tries to escape
