Description

The Archduchess of Erinyes The offspring of an erinyes and Asmodeus, Mazzeera has been doing her father's bidding for millennia. While her true identity was concealed, her father would use her as a hidden chest piece to inflict his will on countless planes. Asmodeus' main focus for Mazzeera has been to acquire items of importance for him. Additionally, he was ready to use her to defend Nessus and himself if the archdevils succeeded in The Reckoning. She commands her own legion of powerful erinyes which are skilled enough to take down a goristro in one on one combat. Her erinyes reside in Nessus, using them as spies, infiltrators, and aspects of her own will. Her erinyes are spread throughout different layers disguised as loyalists of the archdevils, collecting information which she relays to Asmodeus. Her power rivals even that of Mephistopheles, whom she hates with a passion. She is arguably the most loyal servant to Asmodeus, fulfilling every command he asks of her without failure.

Mazzeera has accomplished much for Asmodeus, she killed an ancient silver dragon on her own to steal it's eggs. Asmodeus used these eggs to empower the Dark Eight, giving the pit fiends the ability to strategize with immaculate calculation. Endlessly returning powerful treasures for her father to do with as he pleased. Mazeera has earned her wicked black crown and her rightful place in the hierarchy as a warrior of the erinyes.

The former Queen of Erinyes and her sister, Glasya, despises Mazzeera. Unknowingly, Glasya was believed to be the only offspring of Asmodeus and she used this title for her own gain. Mazzeera was the exact opposite of Glasya, preferring to keep lineage to herself letting her battle prowess shine instead. Now that Mazzeera has gained political power, it is known that all erinyes bow to her and always have. Glasya detests this, believing that her sister conspired against her which lost her the command of countless erinyes. Mazzeera has no time for her sister or her pointless accusations, erinyes had always reported information to her for Asmodeus. Her erinyes had sworn to uphold their espionage with honor, defective erinyes would be slaughtered by their fellow sisters before blowing cover.

Mazzeera holds honor and loyalty above all, awarding those who follow her commands. Leading by example, she would slay any who would oppose her father. Ironically, honor and loyalty are not traits most devils possess. However, Mazzeera has been sculpted by Asmodeus to follow orders and uphold what she is told. She puts her lessors through that same regiment, sculpting them into her instrument of use. Those who are honorable are rewarded well by Mazzeera; many of her Erinyes keep track of their kill count for the day. Those who stay the strongest warriors for the longest time are rewarded more than others. She despises the weak, if a creature fails her she kills them herself, ruling with an iron-fist.

Sprouting black shadow like wings, black hair and blackened curved horns standing at a staggering 10ft tall. She cannot hide her linage, she is one of Asmodeus' daughters. She once could be mistaken as "just another erinyes" but now the power of Asmodeus seeps from her very being. Her armor screams and cries with the souls it was forged with and the souls she has slain for centuries in Asmodeus' name. The screams and cries cause her to possesses an Intimidating Presence frightening even the bravest of creatures that dare face her rage.

Mirror of Souls A relic that her father asked her to acquire for herself. The mirror was a powerful relic of a dead god, Jergal, but lost in time and found it's home in Avernus. She found the mirror in a cave filled with Abishai who followed Tiamat. She was once a raging embodiment of the hells, hellfire fueled her adrenaline. However when she acquired the mirror, it unlocked something inside of her that lingered. The mirror connected with a dormant source of power within her, now fueling her rage with souls of the damned and demons who were slain by her sword. The mirror is indestructible, even the most powerful magic cannot undo it. Some have tried to wish the mirror to not exist but the wish is sent back to the caster, erasing them from existence. Mazzeera is a patron for wizard, warlocks, and sorcerers allowing those who make a pact with her to draw on powers from the Mirror of Souls.

Although she does not control a specific layer of the nine hells, she has a very strong foothold in Nessus. Her next mission appointed by Asmodeus is to acquire a new plane, one that can be converted to be the tenth layer of hell. She has never failed her father before, she will not fail him in this. One way or another, she will create a new layer and rule over it with an iron-fist as archdevil of erinyes.

Lair and Lair Actions

Bone Trenches

Mazzeera has acquired an area in Nessus from Asmodeus called "Bone Trenches". In this area she can make rules and accumulate devil forces. Within the Bone Trenches resides her three towers named "The Manor of Honor". Only creatures with familiarity with the Bone Trenches and [Tooltip Not Found] can travel to her towers "The Manor of Honor". Only creatures with Truesight can see the outline of this three towered castle in Nessus if they are not familiar with it. Mazzeera can transport the Bone Trenches to other planes. She uses power from the Mirror of Souls to do this. She selects a soul and transports to a desired location on that soul's home plane.

The towers have an ominous affect on it's surroundings. Within 2 miles of the towers both in Nessus and another plane, you feel like you are being watched. Creatures must make a DC 23 Wisdom Saving Throw every hour. on a fail, the creature will start to hallucinate and see shadows of erinyes on the ground giving them disadvantage on perception checks. While Mazzeera is present in her tower, she can sense when an adventurer has fallen prey to her illusion.

Also, as an action, she can cause fire to rain down from the sky in a 2 mile radius around the towers dealing (1d10) fire damage every ten minutes. Outside of the hells, this is perceived as rain but is boiling hot. Shelter that is made from anything but metal is destroyed, the only cover that can be found are caves or metal structures. If a creature has truesight, they can see the rain for what it truly is, brimstone raining from the sky.  This also hits fiends, Mazzeera see it as punishment and will have her lessors bare the fire if she pleases. This does not effect plants in other planes, only creatures and structures.

Mirror of Souls . A 60foot tall black gold trim mirror with purple orbs and faint glows. Noises can be heard humming from the warping crystal. Cries and distant screams can be heard when you are close to the mirror. When a creature is 50ft from the mirror they must succeed a Wisdom DC 24 saving throw or be mesmerized by the mirror and stunned until the end of their turn. - When creatures are close to the mirror they can see purple orbs off in the distance, suggesting that this mirror goes to a location or has things inside of it.

As an Action (1d20 recharging on a 20) Mazzeera can call on the souls in the mirror to pay for their sins, purple orbs shoot out from the mirror. Any creature in 100ft from the mirror can be affected by this depending on Mazzeera's, but also Asmodeus' choice. Mazzeera rolls 1d100 to see how many souls shoot from the mirror. The souls act as magic missiles, the damage is fixed to 3 force damage. Thus, rolling a 61 with the 1d100 would do (61*3) 183 total force damage. This damage can be split accordingly between creatures, but must be divisible by 3.

The mirror contains the souls of demons Mazzeera has slain, and those who have given their souls to her as pact warlocks or through deals. Mazzeera favorites her warlock's souls above all, sometimes reanimating them into devils or humanoids allowing them to possess the creature before the Mirror of Souls. It takes Mazzeera almost all of her energy to reanimate her warlocks, losing all of her spell slots for the day. she must replenish the power in the mirror, needing 20 demon souls. If she does this twice in one go, she gains a level of exhaustion and must replenish the mirror with 40 demon souls. She herself would not fight demons, she would send the warlock to collect souls with a weapon or wand in exchange for restoring them. If they failed her, she would rest for the remaining time to fix her exhaustion or spell slots then destroy them. Never resurrect their soul again. She perhaps would extract their soul to be forged into a soul coin to find more use for them.

While a mortal's soul is trapped in the Mirror, they experience anguish. Being surrounded by demon souls causes panic and anger to build up, tainting the soul. Mortals that have been in the mirror longer find it hard to remember their past life, filling them with fear and paranoia. The longer the soul sit in the mirror, the more likely Mazzeera keeps them there or forges them into a soul coin. Mazzeera tends to know when a soul is beyond sanity.
