Traits

Void Adaptation.

The Void Hunter does not require air, food, drink, or sleep. It can survive indefinitely in the vacuum of Wild Space.

Gravity Lurker.

The Void Hunter can cling to the gravitational fields of objects in Wild Space, using asteroid fields and debris as cover. It has advantage on Stealth checks while near large objects.

Pack Stalkers.

The Void Hunter has advantage on attack rolls against creatures if at least one ally is within 5 feet of the target and not incapacitated.

Heat Sense.

The Void Hunter perceives living creatures within 60 feet as thermal silhouettes. Invisible creatures do not gain advantage against it unless they are immune to detection by heat.

Actions

Multiattack. The Void Hunter makes two Void Maw attacks.

Void Maw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.

  • Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) necrotic damage. The target’s maximum hit points are reduced by the necrotic damage taken until they finish a long rest.

Tail Snare. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.

  • Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) bludgeoning damage, and the target must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be grappled. While grappled in this way, the target is restrained, and the Void Hunter cannot use its Tail Snare on another creature.

Shadow Dive (Recharge 5–6).
The Void Hunter folds its wings and vanishes into a burst of shadowy mist, reappearing up to 60 feet away. If it reappears adjacent to a creature, it may make a Void Maw attack as a bonus action.

Description

Nightmarish predators that glide through Wild Space, moving between drifting asteroids and dead worlds in coordinated packs. Their elongated, eel-like bodies coil unnaturally, their eyeless faces sensing prey through heat and vibration. When they attack, they do so without sound, their leathery wings spreading to ensnare their victims in a voidborn ambush.

Tactics

  • Ambush Hunters. Void Hunters prefer to hide among asteroids, waiting for their prey to drift too close before bursting out in coordinated strikes.
  • Pack Tactics. They surround their prey, using Tail Snare to immobilize targets while others strike with Void Maw.
  • Escape & Reposition. If the fight turns against them, they use Shadow Dive to disengage, waiting for another opportunity.
