Adaptive Eternity:
Whenever Mahoraga takes damage from a spell or weapon to which he is not already resistant or immune, he rolls a d6 at the start of his next turn. On a roll of 4–6, he gains resistance to that damage type for the rest of the encounter. If Mahoraga already has resistance to a damage type and takes damage again, he rolls a d4. On a roll of 3–4, he gains immunity to that damage type for the rest of the encounter.
Mahoraga regenerates 50 hit points at the start of his turn if he has at least 1 hit point remaining. Lost limbs regenerate after 1d4 minutes, and if severed, they regrow independently. Only radiant damage or the effects of a Wish spell can suppress this regeneration for 1d4 rounds.
Sword of Eternal Extermination:
Mahoraga wields a magical curved blade that adapts to exploit the weaknesses of its enemies. Whenever he strikes a target, the blade’s damage type automatically becomes the target’s most vulnerable or weakest resistance (if any). If no vulnerabilities are present, the blade deals an additional 30 (6d8) force damage.
The sword can also sever magical defenses. When Mahoraga hits a creature with an active magical barrier (e.g., Shield, Mage Armor), the target must succeed on a DC 24 Constitution saving throw or have that barrier disabled for 1d6 rounds.
Legendary Resistance (4/Day):
If Mahoraga fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Multiattack:
Mahoraga makes three attacks: one with his Sword of Eternal Extermination and two with his claws.
Sword of Eternal Extermination: Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target.
Hit: 34 (4d12) slashing damage, plus an additional 30 (6d8) force damage.
Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target.Hit: 28 (4d8 + 9) slashing damage.
Tail Swipe (Recharge 5–6):
Mahoraga sweeps his tail in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 60 (12d8) bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Creatures that fail the save are also knocked prone.
Mahoraga can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature’s turn. He regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
- Adaptation Surge: Mahoraga can use his Adaptive Eternity feature to reroll the d6 immediately.
- Regenerate (Costs 2 Actions): Mahoraga regains 30 hit points.
- Sword Strike: Mahoraga makes one Sword of Eternal Extermination attack.
When Mahoraga is reduced to 0 hit points for the first time, he does not die or fall unconscious. Instead, he gains 350 temporary hit points and all resistances become immunities. His Sword of Eternal Extermination also gains the ability to deal an additional 40 (8d8) radiant damage in addition to its force damage.
Divine Cleave (Recharge 6):
Mahoraga swings his sword in a 40-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 85 (15d12) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
