False Appearance. While the swarm remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a pile of dead twigs and branches. A DC 17+ Perception or Nature check is required to identify them before they move.
Swarm Mechanics. The swarm can occupy another creature’s space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny creature. It cannot regain hit points or gain temporary hit points.
Hive Mind. The blighted twigs share a hive mentality, often appearing in groups.
Blighted Infection. When a creature is hit by the swarm’s attack, it must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or advance one stage in the Blighted Scourge infection.
Swarm Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 0 ft., one target in the swarm’s space. Hit: 12 (4d4 + 3) slashing damage, or 6 (2d4 + 3) slashing damage if the swarm has half of its hit points or fewer.
Blighted Lash (Recharge 5-6). The swarm extends thorny tendrils at one creature within 10 feet. The target must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, or be restrained for 1 minute as the thorns dig into them. The creature can use its action to make a DC 13 Strength check, breaking free on a success.
Description
The Blighted Twig Swarm is a writhing mass of eerie, plant-like creatures, all infused with the corrupting energy of the Blighted Scourge. Lurking in the underbrush, these swarms blend seamlessly with dead branches and foliage, lying in wait for unsuspecting prey. Though individually frail, together they move with unnatural coordination, overwhelming their victims in a flurry of jagged claws and splintered limbs. Their twisted forms pulse with blighted energy, spreading corruption with each scratch, while their sharpened appendages tear into flesh with relentless malice.
