Ambusher. In the first round of a combat, the akaname has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that is Surprised or has not yet taken a turn in the initiative order.
Hold Breath. The akaname can hold its breath for up to one hour.
Innate Spellcasting. The akaname's innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The akaname can innately cast the following spells, without providing material components:
At Will: Fog Cloud, Mage Hand (the hand is invisible)
Magic Resistance. The akaname has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. The akaname’s weapon attacks are considered magical.
Spider Climb. The akaname can climb any difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Multiattack. The akaname can makes three attacks: one with its Bite, one with its Claws, and one with its Tongue.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) Piercing damage.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (2d4 + 3) Slashing damage.
Tongue. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) Bludgeoning damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it must succeed on a Strength (Athletics) contest against the akaname or be pulled up to 20 feet toward the akaname.
Hop. As a bonus action, the akaname can jump up to 10 feet in a direction of its choice. This jump distance does not count against the akaname's movement.
Description
The akaname resembles a humanoid frog with severe scoliosis. Its hands and feet are flat and wide with long fingers and toes that get wider at the ends. Bulbous eyes that move independently from each other. Its long tongue partially hangs from its large drooling maw. Its face is a twisted combination of fiend, frog, and humanoid.
The rubbery skin of the akaname comes in many different patterns and colors, for example: blood red with black faded stripes, lime green with red rings, dull purple with yellow spots, or blue with orange patches.
Youkai Fiends. Youkai are fiends inspired by Chinese, Japanese, or Mongolian folklore. They are native to the Lower Plane of Acheron. They can be any type of Evil Alignment but they tend to lean more towards Lawful Evil.
