Traits

Undead Nature. The Boneless Horde does not need to sleep, eat, drink or breathe.

Horde Nature. The Boneless Horde is immune to conditions except for those caused by an effect that covers all the spaces occupied by it. The Horde occupies 1 5ft.x5ft. square for every 5HP it has (rounded up).

Horde Movement. The Boneless Horde can move by changing its shape. Each 5ft. of movement requires one 5ft.x5ft. piece of the horde to be moved to an adjacent space (not diagonal) to another already occupied by the Horde. The Horde prioritizes moving to surround any creature within 5ft. of it. If there are none, it moves in the direction of the last attack to hit it from outside of it's blindsight reach. The Horde's overall speed increases at certain HP thresholds (225HP -> 20ft., 150HP -> 25ft., 75HP -> 30ft.).

Actions

Horde Attack. The Boneless Horde makes 5 attacks for each 5ft.x5ft. space it occupies within reach of the target.

Action Melee Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 1 bludgeoning damage.

Crushing Embrace. The boneless horde wraps its body around a Large or smaller creature surrounded by it (a creature is considered surrounded if the horde occupies all spaces adjacent to that creature). While the Boneless Horde is attached, the target is blinded and restrained and is unable to breathe. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw at the start of each of the boneless horde's turns or take 5 (1d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If something moves the target, the boneless horde must make the saving throw. The boneless horde can release the creature without expending an action. A creature, including the target, can use its action to try to detach from the boneless horde and move into the nearest unoccupied space, doing so with a successful DC 13 Strength check. When the boneless horde dies, it detaches from any creature it is attached to.

Reactions

Boneless Bounce. Whenever the Boneless Horde is hit by an attack originating outside of it's reach, it launches part of it 30ft. in the direction of the attack. If the part would hit a creature, it must make a DC 13 Strength check or take 5 (1d4+3) bludgeoning damage. If there is no creature on the targeted space, a Boneless with 1HP appears. It takes its turn immediately after the Boneless Horde.

Description

After the Cult of the Mienai's rushed attempt at summoning the Gashadokuro with only half of the required sacrifices, the remaining Necromantic energy concentrated itself around the piles of sacrifices now lacking their bones (used as materials for the Gashadokuro's creation) animating them into weaker versions of Boneless. The creatures, however, maintain a form of innate connection as a side-effect of the spell that led to their creation, acting as a single, horde-like entity.
