Description
Anuran monitors control the day-to-day life of weaker Anuran, directing their work and worship. Anuran priests bless monitors with the power to control their underlings and to subdue foes with electricity channeled through their bizarre whips.
Anurans are strange fish-like creatures with limited sentience that can be found in small groups throughout the Nighthaven Bog, often occupying large, deep ponds or damp caves. Many Anurans are little more than beasts, driven purely by instinct. The few that have evolved a greater ability to think have realized their vulnerabilities and have grown desperate, often seeking out "gods" that promise to protect them or grant them power to defend themselves. Rarely, however, do these gods turn out to be benevolent, with most simply being intelligent, powerful monstrosities that see an opportunity to use the Anurans to their advantage, either cultivating them as food or using the Anurans to bring them food.
