Sin of Greed. Any creature within 30 feet of Althoras feels an overwhelming urge to hoard wealth. A creature that holds at least 500 GP in value must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw at the start of their turn or become Charmed for 1 minute. A charmed creature refuses to part with any of their gold or items and prioritizes defending their wealth over fighting Althoras. They may repeat the save at the end of each turn to end the effect.

Eat the Rich. The richer a character is, the more damage they take. Any attack from Althoras deals extra damage equal to 1d8 per 100 GP the target owns, up to a max of 5d8 additional damage.

Actions

Multiattack. Althoras makes two melee attacks or casts one spell and makes a melee attack.

Gilded Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) slashing + 9 (2d8) necrotic damage.

Shadow Hoard (Recharge 5-6). Althoras summons spectral treasure hoarders, forming 3 shadowy minions in unoccupied spaces. Each minion has AC 15, HP 30, and attacks for 2d6 necrotic damage. If a minion kills a creature, the body turns to golden coins and vanishes, preventing resurrection. The creature reappears after the battle is over.

Bonus Actions

Gilded Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 18 (3d8 + 4) slashing + 9 (2d8) necrotic damage.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Greed. (Recharge 6) Althoras absorbs the treasure and wealth around him, increasing his power. He regains 20 HP per 1,000 GP worth of treasure within 30 feet. Objects disappear into his form, merging into his golden armor.

Soul Tax. Target within 30 ft. makes a DC 16 Charisma saving throw or loses 1d4 x 100 GP worth of valuables, which teleport into Althoras’ possession.

Greedy Glare. Althoras targets one creature within 60 feet. They must make a DC 17 Wisdom save or be paralyzed for 1 minute, obsessed with their own wealth.

Description

Althoras, once a mighty ruler, now embodies greed. It seeks only wealth and power, hoarding treasures and trapping those who come near to take it. The more it accumulates, the stronger it becomes. The players must fight against its greed-driven tactics to survive.

Lair and Lair Actions

Treasure Trap: A chest explodes in a 10-ft. radius, dealing 4d10 fire damage (Dex save for half).

False Wealth: A character that picks up treasure must make a DC 17 Intelligence save or take 5d10 psychic damage, realizing it was an illusion.
