Legendary Resistance (3/Day, or 4/Day in Lair). If Valin fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. Valin has Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Mummy's Weakness. Without her Ring of Fire Resistance, Valin has Vulnerability to Fire Damage.
Thaumaturge. Valin's mystical connection to the divine grants her greater insights. Valin adds her Wisdom modifier to her Arcana and Religion checks.
Undead Restoration. If destroyed, Valin gains a new body in 24 hours if her heart is still in Zehni's body, reviving with all her Hit Points. The new body appears in the Sarcophagus located in T6.
Multiattack. The mummy makes one Rotting Fist or Channel Negative Energy attack, and it uses Dreadful Glare.
Rotting Fist. Melee Attack Roll: +9, reach 5 ft. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) Bludgeoning damage plus 10 (3d6) Necrotic damage. If the target is a creature, it is cursed. While cursed, the target can’t regain Hit Points, it gains no benefit from finishing a Long Rest, and its Hit Point maximum decreases by 10 (3d6) every 24 hours that elapse. A creature dies and turns to dust if reduced to 0 Hit Points by this attack.
Channel Negative Energy. Ranged Attack Roll: +9, range 60 ft. Hit: 25 (6d6 + 4) Necrotic damage.
Dreadful Glare. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 17, one creature the mummy can see within 60 feet. Failure: 25 (6d6 + 4) Psychic damage, and the target has the Paralyzed condition until the end of the mummy’s next turn.
Spellcasting. Valin casts one of the following spells, requiring no Material components and using Wisdom as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks):
At Will: Clairvoyance, Disguise Self (Hat of Disguise only), Dispel Magic, Thaumaturgy
1/Day Each: Animate Dead, Dimension Door, Harm, Insect Plague (level 7 version), Scrying
Whirlwind of Sand. Trigger: Valin is hit by an attack roll. Response: Valin adds 2 to her AC against the attack, possibly causing the attack to miss, and Valin teleports up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space she can see. Each creature of Valin's choice that she can see within 5 feet of her destination space has the Blinded condition until the end of Valin’s next turn.
Legendary Action Uses: 3 (4 in Lair). Immediately after another creature’s turn, Valin can expend a use to take one of the following actions. Valin regains all expended uses at the start of each of her turns.
Dread Command. Valin casts Command (level 2 version), using the same spellcasting ability as Spellcasting. Valin can’t take this action again until the start of its next turn.
Glare. Valin uses Dreadful Glare. Valin can’t take this action again until the start of her next turn.
Necrotic Strike. Valin makes one Rotting Fist or Channel Negative Energy attack.
Description
Valin Sarnaster has been thoroughly corrupted by visions of a future in which she sees herself as the immortal heir of Savras’s realm. The Canopic Being came into her possession years ago, and an obsession with the dark rituals therein set the oracle on her present course.
Valin has become a powerful undead as the first step on her path to godhood, and is now a mummy lord.
Personality Trait. “I have seen the future. Therefore, nothing surprises me.”
Ideal. “To know all things is the goal of the most powerful oracles. And I will be the most powerful oracle of all.”
Bond. “This temple was made for me. It has come to me. It is part of me.”
Flaw. “Each future that allows a chance for my failure to occur must be tracked, must be focused on, and must be destroyed.”
Valin Sarnaster's Lair
The region containing a Valin’s lair is warped by its presence, creating the following effects:
Cursed Fate. Whenever a creature other than Valin or one of its allies casts a Divination spell while within 1 mile of the lair, the creature makes a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the spell dissipates with no effect, and the action, Bonus Action, or Reaction used to cast the spell is wasted, but any resources used to cast it aren’t expended.
Soul Drain. Creatures within 1 mile of the lair have Disadvantage on Death Saving Throws.
If Valin is destroyed or moves its lair elsewhere, these effects end immediately. The effects resume if Valin gains a new body (see her Undead Restoration trait).
