Description

To anyone who may stumble upon this or creatures like this: This is a homebrew creature I made for my homebrew campaign setting and was never originally supposed to be made public. However, I decided to use a homebrew race from that same setting in my friend's Spelljammer campaign, and they requested to use some creatures I was okay with them using from that campaign setting in case we visit the planet or run into some intergalactic poaching ring. However, after a bit, we were made aware that even though I was in their campaign, D&D Beyond did not give them access to my homebrew creatures, so I am releasing duplicated copies of these creatures for them to use and keeping the originals so I can continue to update them as I see fit. So if anything seems janky, that's why.

General Description. Vulpamancers are one of the most disturbing-looking patrons of the Bone Barrow. Vulpamancers have the body of a large dog with a long tail covered in spiky quills and short bluish-gray fur, and the vulpamancer's most distinguishing feature is its head. A vulpamancer's head has a long skeletal snout, exposed teeth, no eyes, and three spade-shaped ears. 2 of its ears are on the sides of its head, while the third is on the top at the base of the skull. The vulpamancer's appearance has caused nightmares to many who have seen it.

Prolific Stalker. Vulpamancers are some of the most incredible trackers known. Seeking prey with super-smell, long-ranged echolocation, keen hearing, and sensing vibrations through the ground. A pack of vulpamancers can track a creature for hundreds of miles. A vulpamancer uses its echolocation by letting out a loud bone-chilling screech; this behavior has given them Skull-Screechers' nickname. Vulpamancers have a lot of bacteria in their mouths that slightly rot flesh bitten by the vulpamancer. This and the acid quills on its tail are how they subdue prey. Vulpamancers have evolved to hunt their favored prey, the kestrel specifically.

Bounty-hunter's Best friend. The vulpamancer's freighting appearance and tracking prowess have made them a favored mount and companion of the Bone Barrow's bounty-hunting community, alongside Thistlehide.
